No you don't! I live in Europe and regularly watch movies, play mini golf or do other things with my friend in the USA. It's pretty cool. I have a quest 3 with a bobovr s3pro strap.
I like mine a lot. Plenty of cool stuff to do, especially if you have friends who also have headsets. A better strap for the meta ones is a must. They have a good return policy if you decide you don't like it.
