I have been quiet here, not sharing any observations of the #IPBES12 negotiations, as they happen behind (social media) doors Luckily these is some greating reporting happening for those who want to get an idea of the main issues and discussion items of the Member States 👇🏾
But first...90min of Member State opening statements. A 'preview' of what interventions can be expected in the coming days. 👂
The experts were diverse. Note worthy: more female experts were involved in the assessment. unusual in a still male- dominated business world, says the amazing Ximena Rueda, co-chair.
And we're off!! The working group I at #IPBES12 starts the deliberation of the #BizBiodiversity assessment. "A timely piece, bringing knowledge from many directions together " says co-chair Matt Jones, symbolically sitting under a main clock in an old station where tracks came together.

IPBES expects lined up and excited to observe what is to come during #IPBES12. For the many #BizBiodiversity experts this time the idea that over 150 goverment will reflect on their work is both exciting and scary.

Good to be reminded of the crucial link between the #IPBES assessments and #CBD processes, now specifically #KMGBF implementation. Our science is not perfect, but it has a strong role in transparent decison making. 🌍
Opening of #IPBES12 Plenary, a good moment to feel the Manchester vibe: an industrial setting in which tracks used to come together, with experimental music a fusion of technology, art, and nature. Perfect foundation for a constructive meeting.

"Green hushing" is unfortunately becoming a thing. Businesses that do the right thing for nature, but don't want to actively share that info, eg as fear for being called 'green washing'. 🍃
💬 information on biodiversity interactions is mosty on 'quantitative' links (more or less of smt)..but not that often on quality apects "coffee from diverse rich field just tastes better" #ForNature
