Right on, enjoy! I just opened a bag of the Columbian Supremo you may have seen right next to that Sumatran. Good stuff. How do you brew? (e.g. French press, pour over, etc)

Good luck to her! Hopefully she doesn't get a jump on the "How to deal with an intersection when the traffic lights aren't working" experience... :)
Graphic 7 day forecast for the summit of Haleakala, showing a significant Kona storm is gonna dump on us for a while.
Yeah, things gonna get wet for....about a week. Here's the point forecast for the observatory:
Yep. Fingers crossed.
Roger Ebert reminding us to remember to enjoy life.
INCOMING. :)
Tomorrow we go up, we track for a while if the sky is clear, then we shut EVERYTHING down, unplug a bunch of stuff, turn the dome into the wind and cover the scope with plastic, and almost certainly cancel Wed shift if forecast holds.
Well obviously. :)
I don't know about whimsical. Expression more: "'Go to France' they said. 'You'll have a great time!' they said. And what happened? I ended up in a Roman mosaic."
Hawaii is proud of our weird-as-f*ck invertebrates :)
I guess I should store my telescope mount inside.
(By the way, major props to the obviously ex-combat chopper pilots who were good enough to drop telephone poles into holes from above in 40 mph winds.)
Now this Kona low is apparently gonna merge with another Kona low later in the week and we're going to have 80-100mph winds at the summit. Last time this happened the entire electrical infrastructure got scraped off the summit and I spent three months watching power poles replaced via helicopter.
Had me at "Crouching" :)
No man may speak ill of Thorongil, I do not make the rules
LOL that's the quoted post, I was referring to the wee snapping turtle. Although a garter snake is incredibly fierce if you are prey-sized. :)
"Though she be but little, she is fierce"
I've never even heard of this. I will check out, thank you!
It would have been the same for me, but I was exposed to the NYT Op-Ed that blames complicated coffee orders for the downfall of civilization. But this is close, very close.
An i'iwi (vermillion Hawaiian honeycreeper) a small bird with a long curved beak and black wings and tail perched on a cluster of sandalwood flowers, red on the outside and white when open
OK, #BirdOfTheDay theme is #SideProfile , here's one of the first I'iwi images I ever captured, lil' one was good enough to pose on a blooming 'iliahi (native Hawaiian sandalwood) #birds πΏπ·π¦
Why I want Stanton in there, even if he's hitting .150. That swing. (Plus watching the ball go right through infielders when he hits 120mph ground balls LOL)
I thought I had exhausted all the reasons for not owning a Tesla (and there are quite a few) but here's a new one to add to the list!
Great shot tho!
I ENJOY driving.
Help.
What are these skulls that were given to me?
Excellent! I know exactly where you took that shot. BTW mine was taken right at the big overlook, aiming down and to the right. The 'iliahi is still there, still blooming. :)
Delete your account LOL :)
Wendy is about 5'4, 110 lbs. I can win this. :)
Yep, as that direction typically leeward. :)
Ugh
