I like it, but a severe lack of whales/whaling might keep it from the crown
I think part of it is the camera stays grounded, especially in Godzilla (2014). We only really see the monsters from human perspective, no floating camera/big drone moves that diminish scale, or wide shots that don't give enough context to the size of the monsters
