This is big claw, yet another #theBigO inspired robot, yes ov made a lot of them XP based on the #megadeus from the show, bit claws main feature is its crushing pincers which it uses to rip apart or crunch anything that gets in their way.
Whenever I get stuck for ideas my mind somehow goes to claws

Back in 2023 I drew some robot designs for the #nextgrendizer competition where you had to make a #saucerbeast similar to the ones on #uforobogrendizer, it was the first time I tried to enter an art contest on social media.

Even though it’s been a while i still consider these some of my best work

Im fond of the #superrobot genre of mecha, stuff like #mazingerz,#getterrobo a lot of #gonagai works in general, its a nice balance of campy and action.
One in particular is #uforobogrendizer, so a year or two ago I Drew up this idea for a space mecha called star max

I like how rocky they look ^^ Iv never seen any episodes of the hanna Barbara show, not really my cup of tea, but I’d watch if it’s got different monsters every episode.

Their jaw also reminds me of a bulldozer ^^

This was steel aegis latest opponent, a sort of #monsteroftheweek robot who was probably sent by a mad scientist or invading aliens, I was going for a similar style to the robot villains in #mazingerz and #uforobogrendizer, posed like some from #thebigo because they do this hands up thing a lot XD

At some point I wanted to draw steel aegis fighting back so I did this quick scene of them fighting a robot using some
Hidden cannons under their shield.
I also wanted to try experimenting with a different background style, Iv never thought they look right before but I’m happy with the result now ^^

so now that iv done the initial design, the next step was the weapons and gadgets, I had some specific ideas I wanted to try and draw like the electro disk fired from his head and the knuckle duster formed from his sheild, because hes mainly a defence robot I tried not to give him too many guns

oh yeah! i guess the colours are a bit like panzer world galliant, thats another favourate of mine I have yet to complete, still not past episode 2 XD

An older drawing I finished recently, I was trying to get an idea of how to draw aegis from the back and showcase him using his sheild to block an energy blast.
Aegis is mostly a defensive robot so they try to keep the enemy at bay while making sure people caught in the crossfire can escape safely

I was looking at some images for inspiration and saw some robots with searchlights for heads. And I got the idea for a security robot that gaurds places overnight. Though they may be a bit over prepared if their fending off intruders with a chainsaw of all things XP

One of the first drawings I did of steel Aegis fighting another robot, I wanted to pit them against something with a big offensive weapon they can block with their arm shields.
Sometimes I worry I don’t pose my characters right; that they look like off angle mannequins XP but it’s good to practice

Aegis design is based on a few things. But is also a retool of a much older drawing that’s a lot closer to #theBigO style of design, even the name.
His gimmic was having a load of shields that also functioned as spinning wheels.
I’d love to revisit this but for now I’m happy with how he is

I was wondering if I should add other details but didn’t want to complicate it so kept it simple, angles, colour guide etc
Also I’m not good with measurements but the human character, Percy, aside from adding a bit of backstory is also there to give a sense of scale and how big aegis is

Drew up this reference sheet for steel aegis, been meaning to for a while, I’m still figuring out his story and while some of that is mentioned here it’s mostly a character study to serve as a rough guide for drawing them.
A lot of it is inspired by #theBigO and I admit it’s not subtle XD

a robot character inspired by #theBigO, based on an older design I drew. aegis is a large mech who was found by a human and now helps them protect their futuristic home thats set in a mysterious wasteland.
#aegis is the name of a sheild in greek mythology, so I Incorporated them into his design

I drew my first lot of #theBigO pictures back in 2021-22, and drew big duo back in 2023-24, I always meant to share those last march for #marchoftherobots but didn’t get time XP glad I could now

Originally I drew this on a narrower page in my sketchbook; as I said before I don’t like how I have to cut off parts of a drawing to make it fit so i put it on a bigger canvas and added the wings, it didn’t have the same gravitas otherwise XP
I was trying to recreate a scene from the anime

in #theBigo anime, big duo is a flying robot as opposed to the Big O which is mainly ground based, so naturally I wanted to try my hand at drawing it in flight, I like the mix of thrusters and propellors it has, plus the way its wings slide out, I also wanted to do some shading and background work.

I originally drew this in my sketchbook as a practice peice to get the details right, I always get annoyed when parts get cut off at the edge of the page but again this was just a test to see if i could, finally decided to add some colour, I dont think I got it exactly right but its not too bad ^^

once I drew the main mecha of #theBigO i wanted to tackle another one, the secong big, #BigDuo, similar to the first but this time modified for flight and has a distinct design. probbaly one of if not my favorate in the series, they have a good archenemy feel when compared to the protaginist

it definitly stands out and has cemented its place as a classic of giant robot media, while I do love the super robot genre as well with all their jumping around and special gadgets, big o and its heavy hitting, hard shelled mecha do scratch a certain itch

After the headshot I wanted to draw drawing #theBigO doing one of jts signature hydraulic punches, I always loved the power behind them with a massive piston driving them.
Not sure if the colours are off but I enjoyed working on this.
The industrial/steampunk look of some of the mecha is brilliant
