Backyard native plant scape with flagstone pathway and cedar chip pathways.
Flagstone pathway goes to right while cedar chip pathway goes to left. Fountain sits in middle, and many established native plants hug the perimeter.
Conventional backyard with astroturf and large stair case.
An update on a design and installation I did four falls ago.βthe last photo shows what the backyard looked like when I arrived. πΏ

THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT A BUSINESS.
because some people are confused about that.
It exists to "establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the commonΒ defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty"
Not to make $$.

I like the concept! The website has way too many ads though to get through it.

Thatβs a great idea! I just went around the coop with board to extend their square footage under the coop a little. Doesnβt keep the snow from blowing in though!

Awesome! This larger scale food forest development, especially in areas that are historically drier, really captures the potential of permaculture to build resilient landscapes.

Thank you π itβs felt so good to be seeing these skills develop more. All my many hundreds of hours drawing designs has really improved my drawing skills in other areas!

I do it mostly by hand, actually. I use Notion and Google Drive for a lot of note keeping, and in the last iteration of our business I had an iPad. We just reopened the company a month ago so hoping to get another, eventually, and when that happens would love to learn ProCreate. What about you?

Itβs taken so much practice! I was just thinking back to my drawings from college over a decade ago and how undeveloped they were. Iβve tried to develop so many skills over the years and while many of them didnβt quite evolve with me, itβs a relief to see that drawing has!

Image showcasing layers of a food forest with various sized trees, shrubs, ground cover, root and soil layers.
As an ecological designer, I feel pretty comfortable drawing out landscapes from a birdβs eye viewβcapturing plant and feature placements. Iβm leaning into my growth edge and practicing other types of drawings, this one inspired from the back cover of βPractical Permaculture.β

Just wanted to sayβ¦ earlier today I was on Notion and discovered your template for tracking annuals and perennials. Itβs amazing! And then I signed up for Bluesky tonight and searched permaculture to find people to follow and you were the second profile to pop up. Thanks for what youβre doing!!
