Using UK sales data, we show that taxes on all antibiotics cut broad-spectrum use only modestlyβ& at high cost. But targeted taxes on AMR-promoting broad-spectrum drugs cut use much more, shift demand toward narrow-spectrum, & cause minimal welfare loss.
