This trend really sucks because all of these characters were really fun at first but their gags became so overused that it’s now always annoying to see them whenever they pop up because of how stale and 1 dimensional they are
One of my biggest problems with DR is they tend overuse comedic gags and really milk it till it gets really old, especially for its side characters

This scene hits harder knowing that Nya and Lloyd are the ones who find Arin’s parents
It is great but it’s jarringly sandwiched between 2 comedic scenes as well
Both episodes suffer from significant tonal whiplash which is why they are quite low but while 11 did have an intriguing plot and character dynamics to carry it, 19’s plot is a lot of more uneven and it doesn’t help that the main villains are hollow making it harder to be invested in the conflict

If I had a nickel for everytime the ninjago writers fumbled evil versions of the ninja, I’d have two nickels
- he showed us just how cold and evil the oni are
- lack of personality was an excellent contrast against Garmadon which humanized his arc even further
- his only issue is the season didnt have enough time to expand their presence and backstory only b/c the season was so short
It’s sad how the Omega was a better threat to the ninja who added far more value to the story even though the forbidden five had over 16 episodes than him to shine
All that time that was spent on freeing thunderfang could’ve been used to give FF more spotlight:
-see each of them use their power
-create a more personal rivalry with the ninja
-demonstrate what makes them more dangerous than anyone the ninja already faced
