Congrats! I got a friendly email alert, but looks like you still need to add a fun cover image to go with it

Mamdani made a 90 sec. video discussing when and how the roads would be plowed, crediting the workforce that makes it possible, reminding owners they must shovel, reminding trash may be delayed, saying there’d be a decision about school by noon, and telling kids it’s fine to hit him with snowballs.

How would you care for/clean a garment like this? Would getting it standardly dry cleaned and pressed destroy the shaping and roll of the lapels and chest?

Ah okay wow I just presumed it must’ve been restricted to books given my scan of the snapshot of the list, and the Rosen surprised me as an outlier!

The Rosen is a chapter from an edited volume rather than a book.

So look at that. DOGE has cost the US Treasury fucking half a trillion dollars. HALF A TRILLION DOLLARS. This is your cost savings.

It's a myth that universities are predominantly liberal or left-leaning. We see this at Columbia. Arts and humanities depts are tiny enclaves. As soon as financial interests are threatened, the "apolitical" and "value free" parts of the institution immediately reveal their politics and values.

I totally agree the UK has quite an outsized influence on the (broadly popular) music scene. It often startles me how many culturally significant music movements were pioneered by British artists.

Call your R reps. If you have a regional accent, make the most of it. Tell them you didn't vote for CANCER and ask them what the hell they're gonna do to stop Musk and Trump. reps.fyi

In 2010, anti-copyright activist Aaron Swartz hanged himself after being prosecuted to the full extent of the law for making copyrighted academic publications freely available. Today, academic publishers are insisting those copyrights be lifted to feed the corporate AI slop machine.

Also that Ukraine has to mobilise basically the entire nation and keep it on a war footing just to survive whereas the conflict in Korea has not required that extent of national mobilisation to maintain the status quo.

Awaiting the exodus of sports related accounts from the other place so I can finally delete it. This space has a great community of academics and political journalists but I also need my feed populated by shorts of goals on a Champions League day.

When I gave up maths as a 16 year old in high school, the thought I would spend a semester teaching Yale undergrads set theory, transfinite numbers, and basic calculus, topology, measure theory, probability and decision theory would’ve appalled and petrified me and here I am, appalled and petrified.
