Bachelor Party is not on TV enough. An underrated comedy gem, with an early Tom Hanks performance and Adrian Zmed. Yes, Adrian Zmed!

My dad has come to an arrangement with the public pool in Nottinghamshire where he swims: after everyone else has got out of the pool, he is permitted to do a somersault before he gets changed. βTHEY OPEN UP THE STORAGE CUPBOARD AND LET ME GO IN THERE SO I CAN GET A GOOD RUN-UP,β he said. Last week my dad, who will be seventy in August, got his friend Malcolm, who is seventy-three, to film the somersault. βItβs shattered all his illusions,β my mum told me. βUntil he saw the film he thought he was creating poetry in motion. But itβs really just an old bloke who canβt run fast doing a sideways flop.β
A thread of notes I've made in my notebook about my dad:
1. The Swimming Pool.
Hello @bsky.app , I have some spare time, and need a podcast to listen to. Crime, music, films, arts and culture. Nothing that's ongoing, just Something I can listen ton8n a few hours. All suggestions welcomed.
Just offered my wife a Ferrero Rocher. She actually took one, well she took two, truth be told. We've been married for 20 years. I don't see us lasting much longer.
Thanks Google AI.
That is amazing looking! Toot toot all! X
Watch Julien Temple's documentary The Filth And The Fury. It's got footage from this concert. My favourite is the band covered in cake that the children had thrown at them. The smiles show that when left to it, they could have fun as a band.
@aniaur.bsky.social Happy Christmas from my lot to yours!
I just don't understand social media. I write one post every couple of weeks, and it never gets any engagement. I'm loathe to move to a once a week schedule, as that reeks of desperation and a certain narcissism.
This #TotvLiv game is going the same way that a lot of my #FootballManger matches turn out.

My favorite Geen Day album.
To be fair, you are the same height as then.
Funniest thing I've seen in ages.
Bought the Crimpshrine album just because the cover looked like something I'd be in to. It didn't disappoint.
My Rose has left me
I'm in a mood
She's gone to Kenya
With the bloke from Allied Carpets
She's climbing the social ladder, just like Robert Laing in JG Ballard's High Rise.
It strikes me that anyone who has read your stuff might realise you take the piss quite often.
I thought it meant the character had bought some shoes from Ebay. Not paying attention to the size, they now need to pass them on.

They'll work out what to do, like Monty Pythons Philosophy Football.
my most recent novel
In case anyone is still struggling to find a Christmas present for that special person in their life who enjoys shortish novels about childhood, mining, robots, alpacas, aliens, education, magic and the lost countryside of the Nearly North, I hear this is ok.

Just on the off chance you're still looking for the right psychedelic novel to buy someone this Christmas. Especially if they're into earth magic, teenage warrior queens, talking hills, weird lost folk records & irascible rivers teeming with the voices of dead souls

In my opinion, Coppola's best film after the first two Godfathers.
