Guest Interview: Sophia Edition Hey, fam. Changing things up on y'all again this week. This post, I interviewed Apostle Dr. Lee Ann B. Marino on the topic of sophia, or wisdom. We don't really talk about how that word is feminine in form, let alone what that means for the church as a whole. So, I went to someone I knew had looked into this topic extensively to get her take on this.

Wisdom. It's something we all need, and it's something the Bible tells us to seek after. However, did you know that the word is feminine in both Hebrew and Greek? Check out this interview I did with Apostle Dr. Lee Ann B. Marino to see why this is important and what it means for us.

Author Spotlight: Dr. Lee Ann B. Marino March, among other things, is Women's History Month. Instead of a devo, however, I thought I'd switch things up and start this series with an author spotlight for Sanctuary's own Apostle Dr. Lee Ann B. Marino. She's written 40+ books so far (with more in the works...I know; she's built different), but I'd like to promote her book Surrounded By So Great A Cloud Of Witnesses: Women Of Faith Who Revolutionized History…

Switching things up for this post. I'm doing a series for Women's History Month, and I'd thought I'd start off with a book recommendation. If you're looking for a good read this month, you'll want to check out this recommendation.

Illustration of a small black cat with large white eyes sitting on a grassy field. The background is a textured sky blending bluish-gray tones with abstract warm orange shapes layered across it. The text above reads: “It’s almost never about being fully ready. It’s mostly about being brave enough to try and choose courage anyway.”

Why We Should Continue to “Lift Every Voice and Sing” What better way to wrap up my Black History Month series than with talking about the black national anthem, "Lift Every Voice and Sing"? This'll be another—you guessed it—lyric breakdown, so buckle up. I'll be giving some historical and cultural background on this song, but I'll also be looking at how it can apply in a broader sense today. I also won't be covering every part because I wanted to focus on others.

Sorry this post is a day late and being published so late, but I wanted to get this last post out before the month's over. Thank you to everyone who's tuned into this series. Read on to see how this poem inspired this post (and see a Sanctuary announcement at the end).

A graphic for Aromantic Awareness Week (February 16-22). It has 3 pictures: the too of a group of people side hugging each other with the text “Just as Valid” at the top, a picture of the Sanctuary ministers in the middle with the text “Just as Loving” at the top, and a bottom picture of two males with the text “Just as real” at the bottom. The colors are all aro-themed, and the Sanctuary logo’s in the bottom right corner

Let’s Talk About Nationalism Yes, I'm using Black Panther to talk about nationalism. Yes, I'm doing this for Black History Month. As usual, stay with me for this one. It's gonna be a ride. Black Panther is one of my favorite Marvel movies. After rewatching it a few months ago, I re-fell in love with it and remembered how well done it was. I also noticed a few things, one that I wasn't completely comfortable with given the country I live in and everything happening in it.

Sorry this post is a day late; had to sit on some of my thoughts with this one. This is probably one of my most controversial posts to date, but just hear me out, okay? I promise it's worth it.

Why Sinners Do It Better Didn’t formally make an announcement about doing a themed series for Black History Month, so consider this it. And to start things off, I wanna talk about the movie Sinners. I saw it for the first time this past Friday. I noticed that it was free on Prime (suspiciously during BHM, but…hey, movie I didn’t have to pay to see on a streaming service I’m already paying to watch movies and shows on), so I checked it out.

So I have another new obsession, and it's the movie Sinners. But like my Hazbin posts, there's a lesson that saints can learn from these sinners. Read on to see what I mean.

“This Man Plans for Every Fight” "Hey, Nik, where's that quote from?" Well, you see, dear reader, EPIC: The Muscial still has a firm grip on my psyche, so you're getting another post based off that. For context, this line comes from the song "Odysseus" in the final saga. Odysseus is finally home, but his palace is filled with suitors who want to harm his wife and child (and that's putting it very mildly).

Today, I bring you your weekly devotional based off EPIC: The Musical. Again. (Look I can't help that Jorge altered my brain chemistry with this, or that God keeps revealing stuff to me through it). Anyway, this post is a sequel to last week's, so read that one first to understand this one.

God Can’t Be Held Down Yup, the EPIC: The Musical train continues (full speed ahead…sorry; I had to). Now, onto the post. This is inspired by the song “Hold Them Down” in the Ithaca Saga. In it, the suitors are trying to complete the challenge Queen Penelope gave them to see who can ascend the throne, but they’re quickly realizing none of them can do it.

Bringing back EPIC for this post. It's a little long, so grab some water and a snack or something while you read about how God revealed Themselves to me through the actions of the suitors in "Hold Them Down."

Repost From Write the Vision: “Having Faith Like Jester”

A day late, but a repost of a post I did for Sanctuary's communal blog, Write the Vision. This one introduces my latest obsession, The Mighty Nein, and reintroduces a familiar concept about having faith when God feels absent.

“Full Speed Ahead!” Well, 2025's almost over. My gut reaction is to say, "Good riddance." But that would be a disservice to all the things God's showed me this year, let alone the many ways They've shown me grace. And for those who are wondering, yes, this is a reference to the song "Full Speed Ahead" from EPIC: The Troy Saga (and if you weren't wondering, well, now you know anyway).

Last post for 2025; funny how the last day of the year is the day I tend to post my blogs. This time, I'm using EPIC: The Musical again to illustrate something I need to work on: being more Kingdom-minded. Read on to see what I mean by going "full speed ahead."
