usually you'd do a couple of hours once a week, typically in an evening or at a weekend, as firing the work takes time and if you're decorating it you can't do that before it's been fired the first time, so day courses are a lot less likely to be a thing

i've done quite a bit of pottery at adult education places. it is fun, and it's good for a big range of skill levels too - at its simplest you roll out a piece of clay, place it in a mould and bake it, all the way up to using a wheel and tools. so i say go ahead and do some, what have you to lose?
