I have the same problem. Developed an allergy in my 20s. Tried to take my husband to a place I used to eat all the time when I was a kid and realized there's literally only two things on the menu I could eat. Even the kid's Mac and cheese wasn't safe.

Does alternate history fantasy count? I love the Leviathan series by Scot Westerfeld. It's a steampunk alternate history of world war I with giant mech and flying whales. The physical book has amazing art, but the audio book has Alan Cummings...so both options are wonderful.
