Two Eclipses of Saros 133
Total lunar eclipses appear nearly identical across different years due to the Saros cycle. This ~18-year period predicts when the Sun, Earth, and Moon align similarly, causing recurring eclipses like those of Saros 133 shown here.

KAS member Tim Kurtz captured this view of the Horsehead and Flame Nebulae from his family's property at Arizona Sky Village. He used an Askar 71F refractor, a ZWO AM5N mount, and an ASI071MC camera. He took 160 2-minute subframes and processed the final image with PixInsight and Adobe Lightroom.

Boosted the natural color data to reveal composition differences across the surface. Blues and teals show titanium rich regions. Warmer tones highlight iron rich basalt from ancient lava flows.
