An absolutely sublime recital disc of Mozart concert arias from Reinoud Van Mechelen and A Nocte Temporis. Having admired him in Baroque & early Classical performance, I hope to hear a great deal more of him in Mozart and other repertoire of the period.

The Saito Kinen Orchestra make a lovely sound in this Brahms and Strauss disc, but overwhelmingly it’s more pedestrian than either composers warrant. A bit more verve and swagger needed.
