I love living here, in this creaky, old, story and a half South Minneapolis bungalow, because when I look out the back window, watching snow fall through the cone of the alley light, it's just me - North Dakota kid - looking out his window at snow, rushing through the cone of the farm's yard light.

Had a nice conversation with a member sportin’ a green @longfellowwhatever.bsky.social beanie. We agreed knowing what’s going on in the neighborhood at a nearly granular level is pretty great. Then, I got them to consider a @racketmn.com subscription. We run a full service operation at the bodega!

Color photograph looking at the front of a small white suburban house at night with a brightly glowing picture window and in the yard a statue of Mary and of the Nativity with bright decorative lights around the shrine. Trees in the yard and behind the house loom up into the sky, making everything around the window and shrine very dark against a glowing overcast night sky

Somewhere, I still have my Rev 105 membership card that also functioned as some sort of phone call payment deal thing, right?

Also, it doesn't look like there's AC other than those lovely ceiling fans.

But, their worries are over, because I'll pay 400k just for that light fixture above the dining room table!

Just need Brauer's shirt to come online so we all wear this and the t-shirt and be Minneapolismaxxed.

I subscribe to all these poetry emails. Often, I go on a jag where I'll read a batch of 25 at a pop.

How is it we become ourselves as we interact with culture? "You are my friend because of this TV show or that song."

With poems, it's like "Yo, once, I saw a bug: Here is the key to your soul.

won't someone think of seven points? we must save our giant commercial real estate spaces from all those pesky homeless people who just need to go somewhere else, anywhere but in front of seven points!

Totally. The couples I saw seemed like they were pretty experienced at doing things baked, so I didn’t see any egregious snackmaxxing. Mostly, it was just cheerful and unrushed:

Boop

Long pause

Boop

Boop

Boop boop boop

While my belief that no one should ever use the bodega self checkout remains staunch and unchanged, tonight, a fair number of people who seemed absolutely stoned out of their gourds came through and, no matter what went wrong, they had a fine, old time.

This isn’t an easy issue because the solution in front of us is perfect. It’s an easy issue because the alternative to the solution is EVIL

I'd been kinda fearing the same.

We were usually in there close to close and there'd be a few folks in there, kinda doing the same post-show thing. More disturbingly, even weekend evenings, the times we'd be in there pre-gaming, as well, it wouldn't be *that* much busier.

The elected officials who rep a majority of the city have to beg Jacob Frey to not veto an extension in eviction notices. @Jacob_Frey who rode the wave of our collective suffering on his national PR tour, the most vulnerable in our city have to beg Jacob Frey to not impede help.

Going to miss Fhima's a lot. Loved going over there, post-1st Ave/Entry show and decompressing with their excellent negroni while basking in the Art Deco glory. As Los Lobos walked off-stage last time we saw them there, my nephew and I, turned to each other and simultaneously said, "Fhima's?"

In the otherwise empty Solomon Hughes Sr. Clubhouse parking lot, a person stood next to their car, the door still open. Hands in pockets, the breeze fluttering their jacket open, they gazed wistfully over the expanse of the future sex forest.

As the husband of a realtor who has to deal with the fallout, one of hills upon which I would die is that it should be illegal for contracted buyers to show inspection results to their know-it-all dads.

I think I was messed up about windows at night for quite a few years after that, as well.

Probably, I was just about over it and then, in Poltergeist, that fucking tree came alive and tried to eat Robbie and it was windows AND trees near windows until I was in my forties lol

Probably! I noped outta there so fast. I can't remember if I was crying or not. Town was small enough that as I kept going up to men who were not my dad in the dark, all these guys knew who my dad was and they just chuckled and said, "Your dad's back a few more rows, kid."

Nowadays, my friend and his daughter watch horror movies together. Like, that's their thing they do together. I think about that a lot.

A friend of mine was in Thailand, (maybe in a camp?) waiting to get to the US. An uncle took him to see....Now, mind you, this is a kid, maybe 8, probably already seen some shit, never even SEEN a movie, *never been in a movie theatre* and this uncle takes him to his first movie EVER: The Exorcist.

I was six. Dad took me to the fake-doc, "Sasquatch" at the theatre in Grafton, ND. I sat up a ways with Chad and Doug, brothers from down the road. Sat with them until the jump scare of a giant, hairy sasquatch head in the window of a miner's cabin sent me searching for my dad in the dark theatre.
