Hereβs the deal with the FY26 NIH funding bill:
One line in the 1000+ pg bill = significantly less science.
The increase to ~40% of grants moving to MYF is estimated to result in a 35% decrease in the NUMBER of NIH grants funded annuallyβmoving the paylines from 10% to around 4%.
THIS IS BAD.
Wow! This is awful.
This is the worst of humanity. I also just read ICE wouldn't even let a doctor go and check on her. So so sad.

This is good news and about time too. Crazy to still be having chicken pox parties when there is a perfectly good vaccine available that will not only protect kids from chicken pox, but also reduce the horrible effects of shingles in later life.

I love your enthusiasm for science. It makes a refreshing change.
For our #flowcytometry peeps, would you like to have a single fix/perm protocol that is optimised for everything? One that preserves fluorophores while allowing simultaneous TF and cytokine staining? How about 100-fold cheaper?
You got it:

This is a research ethics emergency π¨ on the scale of those we know from history - the Tuskegee syphilis study, Nazi βscientificβatrocities. The impact on the global clinical research field is immense. Will we (scientists, participants, communities, ethics committees) ever trust funders again?
We are looking for post-docs interested in studying T cell responses to M. tuberculosis infectionβ¦especially basic T cell immunologists who are interested in learning to work with BSL3 pathogens. The NIH intramural program is an amazing place to train!
Horrendous. I am so sorry for what she went though. It is unacceptable.
