I tried to get rid of all things Meta but my kids nagged me to start posting to Instagram since their friends follow me. Now it's just open app, quickly post picture, close app.

This is most assuredly not a picture of Saturn.

This is most assuredly not a picture of Saturn.

"This is the clearest image ever taken of Saturn’s North Pole", they say.

The amount of sewage-level AI slop on Facebook is just gross. And it's all it ever tries to show me. I only rarely go on there, but it's long past time to delete that bookmark...

(1/4) Jupiter test renders from Voyager 2 data. The left one is from a map I made years ago. The right one is from a new map I'm working on from the same data. The color is better and will be even better in the final version. But the biggest change is that the new map is geometrically more accurate.

A Sol 1794 MastCam-Z of a boulder that the Perseverance Rover arrived at this week. It has an interesting texture, almost looks like an impact breccia (*very* nonexpert opinion).

The Pole Canyon Fault is exposed right above a tunnel over Soledad Canyon Road in northern Los Angeles County. It’s a relatively minor Miocene aged normal fault in a stress zone between the San Gabriel Fault and the San Andreas Fault.

This is an often overlooked Screaming Trees song and I love it. Just great songwriting. Has that classic guitar sound from Gary Lee Conner and some of Mark Lanegan’s best vocals.
