An illustration of the film The Long Walk. In black, red and white. An origami crane sits in the foreground as three pairs of feet walk away from us into the horizon.
An illustration of the film The Long Walk. The character of Barkovitch takes a photo.
I also talk about the importance of art to the sacrificial teens in The Long Walk.
An illustration of the film 28 Years Later in black, red and white. The character of Spike, surrounded by forest and a rising/setting sun, places a skull atop a tower of skulls.
An illustration of the film 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple in black, red and white. The character of Jimmy Crystal stares at a tower of skulls and seems to be thinking βI donβt get it.β
An illustration of the film 28 Years Later in black, red and white. A hand holds a skull.
An illustration of the film 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple in black, red and white. The character of Dr Kelson stands in fire retardant clothing and theatrical make up as fire rages behind him.
This is an Art Attack.
A new newsletter discussing art at the end of the world, trench and plague art, memento mori, the danger of a frozen culture, and reading too much into the 28 Years Later sequels.

See, I really want to watch A Knight of the 7 Kingdoms, hence the rewatch. Similarly, I am intrigued, finally, by House of the Dragon. Really didn't have any intention of watching it, but I wanted some epic, sprawling stuff to have on whilst working.
I know, Sam. I was so along for the ride, it was genuinely my favourite thing at the time. I wonder if time is kind to the ending now.
Rewatching before I do the 2 tie in series.
Mate, first chance I can, you're getting a hug and a beverage of your choice.
Decided I like big build ups and disappointing drops, so I am rewatching Game of Thrones as I work.
By the Seven, I really love Sean Bean.
These last couple of years have felt like a drought for me creatively at times, and I have struggled to come up with new ideas and stories. Then, in fits and burst, things seem to explode out my mind at 2-3am in the morning.
It's weird how creativity hits you out the blue like a bolt of lightning in the dark.
These past 2 weeks, I have come up with a hard sci-fi comic pitch which I am working up, written a 2750 word South Yorkshire estate based pulp noir story and started laying out a zine comic inspired by my ADHD
There's 106 pages to letter, I have a full bottle of water, a half a tank of vape juice, itβs murky outside... and I'm wearing my good glasses.
Yeah, I'm ringing them tomorrow, maybe see about getting in contact with the ADHD clinic here (I now see them yearly) to see if we can maybe play with the dosage etc, see what works. Its more the fact that its strange seeing my behaviour in such a different light.
Loved working on these shorts, hopefully you get the chance to do more. So pulpy and badass.
I could absolutely do without it. I won't lie.
Hey Ariana, I really appreciate the check in. It's been a really weird couple of days. Only known I have ADHD for just about a year, and been medicated less than a year for it. Finding out an awful lot about myself, what ADHD is and how it affects me. Hopefully you're in a better place now.
I have taken a medication break over the last 2 days to try and help me out, weening myself back on them as my focus completely disappeared, bud. But I really do appreciate the concern and advice.
That would be lovely, Lauren. Your art is incredible, and it would have been lovely to chat with you and Alex.
Thankfully things are settling, so that's good, but hopefully you're both selling all manner of books, prints and having a whale of a time!

Gutted to not be at Powercon this weekend up in Glasgow. Personal issues have kept me away.
If you're there, say hi to @alexpaknadel.bsky.social and @laurenknight.bsky.social from me, give @shanazir.bsky.social a hug and have fun! Hopefully next time.
Illustration of a shouting young man.
This house will become a shrine, and punks and skins and rastas will all gather round and hold their hands in sorrow for their fallen leader. And all the grown-ups will say, "But why are the kids crying?" And the kids will say, "Haven't you heard? Rick is dead! The People's Poet is dead!"
This man's French accent is something...
Terrific take on the "not really heroes but look what we've stumbled into" genre (if such a thing exists...well it does now). Caped kudos to @duanemurray.bsky.social @theahmedraafat.bsky.social and @robjoneswrites.bsky.social for a fun ride.
Join me, a 40 year old numpty, as he embarks on watching Gilmore Girls for the first time.
Starting with the La's is a big +1 in my book...
The House of Lords Digital & Communications Committee just published their report on AI, copyright & the creative industries, and their conclusions could not be clearer.

Its left me restless, bud. Unable to figure out what to do to unwind, can't nap and feel pretty jittery. So thats fun.
Thanks bud, alas been weirdly restless all afternoon and feeling a little out of it.
I do appreciate the positivity though!
Ive been needlessly restless all afternoon, so unfortunately not. But I really appreciate the positivity!
