Land was donated in 1867 for a Catholic church along Page Mill Rd. near El Camino Rl. It was named St. Aloysius, after a Jesuit saint who is the patron saint of youth. The church had seating for 148 worshipers. A wood stove heated it, and coal-oil lamps lit it. In 1903, a bell tower was added.
