Effect of Prophylactic Fentanyl Buccal Tablet on Episodic Exertional Dyspnea: A Pilot Double-Blind Randomized Controlled Trial - PubMed This study supports that prophylactic FBT was associated with a reduction of exertional dyspnea and was well tolerated. Our findings support the need for larger trials to confirm the therapeutic potential of rapid-onset opioids.

In opioid-tolerant patients, prophylactic fentanyl buccal tablets significantly reduced exertional dyspnea and respiratory rate during a 6-minute walk test, suggesting rapid-onset opioids may help manage exercise-induced breathlessness.

Palliative Care Needs in an Acute Internal Medicine Ward in Mexico - PubMed The number of patients requiring palliative care in internal medicine wards may be excessive to the current palliative care structures available.

34% of internal medicine inpatients in a Mexican hospital had serious illness; 66% met advanced disease criteria, and 81% of those died within a year—highlighting a critical gap between palliative care demand and available resources.

Determining patient-oncologist cancer treatment intent concordance using systematic screening in a supportive care center - PubMed The rate of inaccuracy in patient-reported curability perception and primary treatment goal at our SCC is high, supporting the need for systematic screening and communication interventions to improve illness understanding and provide goal-concordant care.

In 300 supportive care patients, about half had matching goals for care with the oncologist, while nearly all mismatches involved patients mistakenly believing their treatment was curative, highlighting need for better communication.
