Ville Karjalainen provided the brass again with quality! (trumpet, flugelhorn, horn), Emilia Karhi dropped the flute and I played the piano. Mixed and mastered by Miikka Huttunen at Sonic Pump Studios. This is the main theme.

Got to familiarize myself with erhu (chinese violin) as well as guzheng (chinese harp) and their (extremely talented) respective players. Kanae Nozawa and Barbora Xu. Ville Karjalainen provided the brass again with quality! Emilia Karhi dropped the flute and I played the piano.
Last year I wrote the music and did the production for the latest Clash of Clans Lunar New Year -expansion. Was such a great gig, so thank you Tonally for this opportunity!
Thank you Thomas. The choir was truly wonderful! Good times!
Hienoa! Onnittelut!
Wonderful!
Had a great concert with Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra last friday! Game On! -concert focused on game music and one of the three arrangements I wrote for the evening was mentioned as the favourite of our local newspaper reviewer! Check the link for full review: www.aamulehti.fi/kulttuuri/ar...
An outstanding program featuring the German premiere of the Octopath Traveler Violin Concerto, arranged by Jonne Valtonen @jonnevaltonen.bsky.social!
To the german speaking part of the world -> check my interview from the βgood old daysβ about demoscene and trackers on Retro Gamer! This was my life in my teens and this was pretty much the only way to get into writing electronic music on a low budget back then..
I originally wrote this for Spark! - The Classical Band. You can find this piece on their lovely Folk Tunes -album. Only the recorders have been changed to flute and clarinet.
Kahden Kauppa is a mashup of two Finnish folk songs. Pappani maja and Kullan ylistys get introduced, intertwined and rocked in this wonderful performance by the TampereRaw musicians! Mashups are mostly found on pop, so I thought why not do one in a more classical setting! Hope you like it!
Another favourite arrangement of mine that I wrote for Symphonic Legends -concert. Light Spirit from Legend of Zelda. Fragments of Zelda Main Theme added to the mix. This time my approach was more towards effects and unusual textures -> to bring out the magic and the gravity of the situation.
Old juniper is covered in snow, the birds are singing and music that I was working on is playing in the backround. This created a moment that I still very much like. The video was originally recorded in early spring couple of years ago, hence the birds and anticipation of something new.
The (probably?) last big-scale game music arrangement by Jonne @jonnevaltonen.bsky.social, Octopath Traveler with music by Yasunori Nishiki. Rehearsals with the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra and Lina Matsuda for Symphonic Memories, almost exactly five years ago. Conducted by Eckehard Stier.
Yesterday Jonne @jonnevaltonen.bsky.social wrote about how he particularly likes his shorter compositions/arrangements, which reminded me of his Anthem of Merregnon, performed as part of the East meets West concert in Cologne (WDR Funkhausorchester and choir), which I think deserves more love.
Thank you! The strings are written so that all the players have their own parts/lines to play. Meaning that the 1st violins have 14 individual lines, 2nd violins 12 and so on. Took me some tinkering.. Oh, I heard that Uematsu considers Waterside his favourite of his own works too. Lovely piece!
I had the idea of water washing away the chords from the bottom up. This happens in the halfway of the piece. After the melody is left bare, it gets dropped βunder waterβ. In the end the melody emerges again as a solo violin, but this time softer, reminiscent and purified.
Iβve written _a_lot_ of game music arrangements for symphony orchestras in my past - symphonic poems, a violin concerto and even a three movement symphony. This smaller piece written over a decade ago is still my favourite though. Waterside from the game Blue Dragon (original Nobuo Uematsu.)
Absolutely. Out of all options, this really feels like the best place (by far) to be imho. So happy to see people joining.
Thank you Thomas! You beat me to it. You did forgot one name though - yourself - as the producer who made (and still makes) the Symphonic-series happen!
Kicking it off with a Fanfare for the Common 8-bit Hero!
I composed this piece as a game music concert opener almost 15 years ago. Oh how the time flies. Lighthearted with some twists and turns.
Thank you Michael!
Hello all! I am a Finnish composer and will be following all science and music related stuff here. Iβve written music ranging from Game Boy soundtracks to full blown symphony orchestra works - and everything between. Jup, Bluesky seems like my jam!
