Netflix isn’t investing in podcasting. They’re investing in self produced TV shows.
Which means THEY don’t have to pay actual TV production fees for talent BEHIND the cameras. They’re paying “podcasting” costs.
They relabeled the medium to screw creators. AND it’s making shows worse.
I get that but you don’t think those podcast aren’t changing how they pay their production crews? If my pay increases because me as a podcaster got a deal I’m definitely paying my whole crew more as well that’s the right thing to do

There's no precedent or incentive for Netflix to move in a way that'd encourage platform escape (they make more money if folks don't leave). But things could change (unlikely but always possible)!
Good looking out … I’m still in favor of the move tho because while those are valid concerns i feel like as it grows this type of things can be ironed out in negotiations BUT its definitely an uphil battle

This is worth a response in a blog post but relying on platforms to handle distribution-sensitive content like this makes you obliged to move on their terms (which could be friendly one day and then anti-Black/anti-femme/anti-$WHATEVER the next)

My opinion - if this works..:more networks will invest in the podcast space trying to acquire and offer more revenue for podcast
