what
Anyway, I agree. It's certainly a unique feeling.
ZUN mentioned going back to roots, but ironically I feel more different in this game than any other. And I don't think it's just cuz it's new... the feeling is distinctively modern.
Omg is that Megapig youtube!?
jkjk, hi!
I think for NB/NN stuff you really just need to change how you view this game. Normalize the pyramid screen clears, normalize the moon hyper automatically clearing and destroying things when it ends. The game just kinda... works when you do that. It's not as "pure" as older games but that's fine.
I don't really think you were meant to dodge most of these patterns. I think you were meant to use pyramids and stone properties to scrape by.
So many bullet patterns in this game are high density, high speed, and very RNG based.
I think stage 6 portion is the most notable of this, alongside the stage 4-5 midbosses.
Fossilized Wonders is the screen clear meta.
If you like the new game, cool. If you don't, that's also cool.
I'm not even disappointed or angry. I've gotten so many countless hours of fun and enjoyment out of the games that have already existed. I don't really need a new magnum opus from ZUN. He's already delivered more than enough.
It's just a feeling of, "eh".
But well, I guess that's a redundant thing for me to say. A game from 2007 is going to be different from a game made in 2025.
I think this game is trying to be the modern day Mountain of Faith. Reimu and Marisa being the only two player characters. Both being entries of 10s.
But if you play Mountain of Faith and Fossilized Wonders I think you'll get a very different feeling and experience from both.
The story is fine, I guess. The music is cool. I like Chimi's theme the most. I mean all the good things you're going to get out of this game are the Gensokyo lore and new music. That's never dipped in quality.
The stage 3 laser crashes, the PIV bugging out and giving you really small score at a certain point, the needlessly difficult patterns for an early game, the wonky and annoying pyramids. It's just a giant mess.
I don't know if I have enough investment to really throw out a proper take, nowadays.
I just, don't really feel anything from the new game. I'm not even able to take it seriously.
Would I have liked it? Would I have bashed it?
I wonder what kinda takes I would've thrown out.
I wonder what the me from 8 years ago would have thought about Touhou 20.
I find the pyramids in Touhou 20 to be weirdly intrusive and annoying. Really sucks that they spawn in boss fights too.
Touhou is so nostalgic
Sekibinki.
I just recently picked up Balatro and it's one of the most addicting games I think I've ever played in recent memory. It's almost scary.
doing random Phantasmagoria LNN's for some reason lmfao
i really want to do Cirno and Yuuka LNN, i know for a fact they are possible and realistic...
i will do eiki first though!
Also is it better to play more pacifist during certain parts? (Enemy bosses, lily, etc.) Or is it always good idea to try chaining
So how do you play Eiki in PoFV? I try to summon bosses but they either get reflected or the opponent will protect themselves from the laser with their charge bomb
Aww, what a cutie. What its name?
@sborealis01.bsky.social convinced me to pick up PoFV. Gonna try for Eiki no miss but not gonna take it THAT seriously

Example coloured survival table
Made some adjustments to the Survival table page.
If you leave a game empty, it will not be shown in your table. Also moved the "Fill All" options to the top of each table, to improve their visibility. And finally, if you leave Pointdevice empty, that too will be hidden in your table.
Hi, I like Touhou.
