We stood up for science in Denver today! My daughter designed her own sign, and we went to the capitol building to talk about democracy and standing up for what you believe in. β€οΈ #standupforscience

If youβre an immigrant, if youβre first generation, if youβre a woman, a scientist of color, trans, or gay, you belong in science. - Maya English, PhD student, GETUP UAW #standupforscience #philadelphiascienceaction
Solid rally for science at Portland State U. Thank you Rep Bonamici and all the other speakers for promoting awareness of the benefits of US funded science. Very compelling!

Nashville TN, Centennial Park, backdrop is the Parthenon. Group of community members, scientist, doctors, professors at the Stand Up for Science Rally.
Backdrop is Nashville's Parthenon β to defend science, truth, and reason. The Greeks gave us democracy, medicine, and science. We refuse to let this administration take it away. #StandUpForScience #Nashville"

NATIONAL DAY of ACTION VIRTUAL ONLINE SATURDAY, MARCH 7TH, 12:00PM - 3:00PM
We're hosting a virtual rally for those who are not able to attend a March 7th National Day of Action event in person. We don't think structural barriers should prevent anyone from being able to participate in a movement that directly impacts their lives.

Not now! I am very busy making a ballot of bugs for the local elementary school. Election day is TOMORROW this is very serious. The children must vote for the best BUG, don't you understand the STAKES here?!
SCARAB BEETLE FOR THE WIN!
Thank you so much for the shoutout! βOperation: friendly Neighborhood Scientistβ is so much fun! Everyone should use whiteboards for Scicomm chats! π
If you want to see my occasional updates from my walks (I can only do them every other week at the moment), you can follow my Bluesky account!
"Ask Me About Science!" Got some time and want to engage your community? Grab a whiteboard, find a seat with foot traffic, and see what unfolds! "Hello! Im a friendly neighborhood scientist, and I work on Linsert area of expertise and practice]. Ask me about science!" written on a whiteboard
What if every scientist spent one afternoon a month just talking about science with strangers?
Last week, I had the pleasure of hearing @beccmel2.bsky.social speak about in-person engagement for @standupforscience.bsky.social.
How can you do that in your community? Try a whiteboard!

Have a hobby! Itβs not one folks think about when making ttrpg characters (since youβre usually in a fighting game), but one of my most memorable NPCs spent his free time making stained glass windows when he wasnβt with the party. He also made little glass animals for the PCs!
You could read "The Overstory" by Richard Powers to realize the horror of cutting old-growth forests, of bringing down a tree that has stood since before the printing press existed. Time's short, thoβread these resources for now and COMMENT to stop the BLM's plan. I did.
Comment. This is bad.
just became aware of this--the regime wants to clear-cut massive chunks of Oregon's old growth forests in the name of timber production.
you have until March 23rd to comment.
i know we have endless fucking things to scream at politicians about--this is an important one too.
@murray.senate.gov @cantwell.senate.gov Something needs to be done to stop this. There is no need for "maximum logging" ie maximum destruction in these forests. And you know they'll come for WA next, once they'd destroyed what they can of OR.
You only have a short time to comment. They are trying to destroy our forests to enrich a few logging company executives and the politicians theyβve paid off.

Boycott OpenAI! OpenAI and its CEO, Sam Altman, announced Friday that the company reached an agreement with the Department of Defense to deploy its AI models on a classified network just hours after Trump ordered federal agencies to phase out rival Anthropic.
February 28, 2026 Trump's actions this morning were unconstitutional and bear enormous consequences at home and abroad. The stakes of speaking out against this administration are higher and more urgent today than they were yesterday, which is exactly why we are taking to the streets on March 7th. We will keep you up-to-date on where things are transpiring with how we may be incorporating this into our planned actions, and we look forward to seeing you out on the 7th. We hope you join us to make our voices heard. Save science, protect health, and defend democracy, Colette STAND UP FOR SCIENCE
See you in the streets March 7th.

I couldnβt help myself. Since when do you get to talk about the molecule you studied for your PhD in the context of Olympic cheating? Come chat with me about hyaluronic acid in my new blog post! (Yes, this is a science post!) #scicomm

Action is the anecdote to apathy, so if you saw the horrific news about our illegal strikes on Iran, Iβve got a quick call to action to demand that Congress intervene:

New animation practice for future Scicomm work! Learning how keyframes work, especially for controlling the speed of an object. Still a little clumsy on the movements but weβre getting there! Once I can get this downed I can move onto animating cells! #scicomm
