Tatting done? Lots!
Projects completed? None!
Yarn drooled over? Tons (maybe literally)!
Yarn purchased? Sadly none (yarn diet until I use up some stash)
However, I am not on a tool diet & I bought 3 (buttonhole measure tool, herb shredder, & mini frame loom)
Friends seen? Many!

I worked for Piece Goods (sewing & craft shop) & part of my job was to sew display samples. Most important lesson I learned was difference between a beginner & someone who's experienced. Learning how to correct/cover up mistakes. Or to run with them.

Squared bodice of printed cotton gown
The 1st garment I ever made from a pattern, a nightgown for my mom. We bought the fabric from a textile mills 'by the pound' seconds outlet. Years later, I saw sheets with that exact same print.

A friend who worked with fake fur a lot, would use a toothpick to pull the trapped fur out of the seams. She said it helped conceal the seams & make it look more unmarked.

I need a napkin cause of the way I'm drooling over their yarn. Existential Mustache would make a lovely pair of sock, or shawl.

They would have gone so much faster if I had had a hook that would have fit through those beads. I had to loop thin thread where the bead was going, thread that loop through a big eye beading needle, just to get the beads on the picots.

Indeed, if a poor man will spend a year in prison for stealing out of hunger, how high would the gallows need to be to hang the rich man who breaks the law out of greed?

In the Ramtop Village they believe that no-one is finally dead until the ripples they cause in the world die away, until the clock he wound up wounds down - until the wine she made has finished its ferment, until the crop they planted is harvest. The span of someone's life, they say, is only the core of their actual existence.' Terry Pratchett - Author and humanist #HumanistBookshelf
A great humanist sentiment by author Terry Pratchett for #WorldBookDay. He was our patron and is sorely missed. GNU Terry Pratchett

Yep. It's composed of sets of 4 rings to make a pixelated tapestry of the famous painting. She apparently spent a lot of time hunting down the exact matching thread colors.

Woman stands next to tapestry of Last Supper, Mrs. L. Concistre. Judging by her height, the tapestry is about 5' tall & 8' long.
If anyone has seen this tapestry, please contact the family. It was tatted in the 1940s or 50s & has not been seen since the 1970s. The woman is the tatter who made it & she was about 5' (1.5m) tall.

I saw a pattern I thought was really cute (& in vogue at the time). I went to the store to try on a garment like it. So glad I did. Spared myself time & expense for a garment I'd never wear. Not even at home, in private.

And you are free to use or ignore, of course. But the picture in the magazine does not do it justice. I want to do one in white with red beads.

Depends on what you're sewing. My 1st project was very forgiving (t-shaped dress, just had side seam/underarm seam & hems).

Use the cast on for the yarn you are using (whatever loom that is) & use her pattern as a guide. My 1st hat was chunky & my next hat is size 2.

Look for Parra's loom knit pattern for it on Ravelry. That's what I used. My 1st try is junior sized (just a bit too small for my adult head).
