ππ½ 4 million every year! That's 8 million new voters since 2024, but we still don't have enough in the way of a consistent, equitable on-ramp to democracy. High schools can play an important role in helping their students through the process to their seniors can use their voices in the midterms.
π€ What's the voter registration gap?
First time voters turn out at high rates when they are registered. But under 30% are ready to use their voices in the midterms.
The good news?
π«΅ YOU have the power to change that. Explore more data and activate your community: buff.ly/wQCFvSg
Attention high school civics teachers, here's a lesson to add, instead of subtract: High School Voter Registration.
What could be more patriotic than that?
Every American should have an equal opportunity to vote. And it starts with voter registration. Every year. Every school.
<30% of 18yos are registered for midterms vs. 75% of those age 45+.
π¨HS students! You have the power to close that gap. Pre-registration = do it early so you're ready to vote as soon as u turn 18.
π³οΈWe'll help u and your teachers learn the ropes! www.thecivicscenter.org/close-the-gap
We'd love to see some extra attention paid to first-time voters, aka the 4 million 18-year-olds who are high school
Seniors. That's 8 million newly eligible since 2024, but systemic barriers to registration keep them from engaging at rates as high as older Americans. data.thecivicscenter.org
The program will run daily from Monday 4/6 - Friday 4/10 from 11-1pm. β
If selected, students will be eligible for a $150 gift card for participation in this educational program. οΈ

The Lawyersβ Committee strongly opposes the SAVE America Act.
This unnecessary bill would impose new proof-of-citizenship requirements and disenfranchise millions of eligible voters, disproportionately harming Black communities and other voters of color.
The President claims that cheating is rampant in our elections. This is manufactured hysteria meant to implement barriers to voting and shut American citizens out of elections.
#StateOfTheUnion
Three bills all contain an unnecessary and burdensome requirement making it harder and more expensive for citizens to register to vote: The SAVE America Act, Make Elections Great Again Act, and SAVE Act.
CREW and 130 orgs urge Congress to reject them.
Just like last year, the latest version of the SAVE Act would still block millions of American citizens from voting. #SOTU www.brennancenter.org/our-work/ana...
Contrary to what POTUS says, the evidence is clear that only citizens vote in our elections, with vanishingly rare exceptions. There are multiple layers of safeguards to protect against fraudulent votingβand they work. This has been proved again and again.

Thank you for your important work!
That's great! We need parents and teachers aware of the rules and helping their future voters to understand their power in a democracy. Thank you for sharing!
They will only be voting if they are registered, and only 30% of them are (compared to 75% of those age 45+). 4 million high schools seniors will soon graduate from high school, so now is the time to help empower them. We want them using their voices at the ballot box! data.thecivicscenter.org
We're in!
The SAVE Act would disenfranchise millions of Americans of all ages and races, but younger voters and voters of color would suffer disproportionately. Take action to stop this attack on voting: bit.ly/4tmVIor
Congress can honor John Lewis' legacy by passing the bill that bears his name. The John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act would restore and strengthen the Voting Rights Act to ban racial discrimination at the ballot box.
Today marks the birthday of democracy champion and civil rights icon John Lewis. He spent his life making βgood trouble,β fervently fighting for the freedom to vote.
It's also why we started The Civics Center! Our mission is to make voter education + registration part of every high school in America. We provide free, non-partisan guidance to HS students + teachers. 4 million 18yos will soon graduate. www.thecivicscenter.org/close-the-gap
β That's why we offer free training to high school students to learn how to run voter registration drives. Teens are in the best position to encourage their peers to use their voices at the π³οΈ. <30% of 18yos are registered in midterm cycles vs. voters age 45+ www.thecivicscenter.org/close-the-gap
π£ We're excited to announce our partnership with CenterLink, a network of nearly 400 LGBTQ+ centers nationwide, to help young Americans get registered and ready to vote! π³οΈ

Excellent 𧡠here...
On Lincoln's birthday, it's useful to remember he believed the primary goal of the American experiment was to guarantee "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" and the best way to achieve that goal was through free and fair elections. It's basically the thesis of the Gettysburg Address. 1/2
