@theasrstein.bsky.social sets out what she thinks are some of the most pressing issues facing health and care at the moment, after two days of thought-provoking discussions at our Summit this week.

If you don’t think fighting the fash in any of its guises is worthwhile, then turn away & have a quick pledge for mother Russia.

I’m a bit of an ingenue to the data but do you think it’s credible that the govt. Is hoping to flip current unemployment into the sectors that immigrant labour would previously have fulfilled? (& at what point in time might we be able to consider their success - or otherwise)??

The last three words of this Headline are demonstrably irrelevant in all current circumstances.

Hannah Spencer has made an excellent analysis but without a credible solution it's just empty words.

Rachel Reeves should have a spring in her step as shoots ... Britain’s economy is on the turn and the fiscal situation improving. If the chancellor’s got any sense, she’ll shout that from the rooftops

I get that Labour is the main story but if we’re talking humiliation then the Tories losing their deposit surely merits more than one sentence of nine words buried in six pages of news and analysis

The Green vote was 11% higher than constituency polls, and Labour's 4% below polls. Reform result was in line with polls. This suggests tactical voters went Green to ensure Reform were stopped. Tactical voting was the real story of the last general election, and will be the story of the next one.

I like the variation on this where Steve Miller goes to Sbucks & they ask his name & he goes…’some people call me the space cowboy, some call me the gangster of love, some people call me Maurice’ & she goes okay, espresso for Mo.

They say "If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys." But can it be true? It sounds amazing. I love monkeys. And I'm pretty sure I can get access to plenty of peanuts. I'm definitely going to look into this.

It is refreshing (if also depressing) to see a journalist honest enough to recognise what the Mandelson appointment and defenestration tells us about our media and our politics.

What Starmer cannot say The hypocrisy, in so many directions, the Epstein files reveal of the Westminster and the media class

Have written about a week where the hypocrisy of much of the media was laid bare (and address mine).

I also write about the truth Starmer cannot say: he appointed Mandelson to the court of Trump not in spite of the Epstein connection but in a sense, because of it. open.substack.com/pub/goodalla...

Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.
