All grand this side. You also I trust?
If you stretch to non-fic, can heartily recommend Africa is Not a Country, Dipo Faloyin
I want all the gossip. Store it up. I'll feed you a doughnut
This is the level of birdwatching I can get onboard with
I do miss it on some level, shouted at by a prostitute who then promptly apologised, nearly taken out by the mother-daughter duo sharing a wheelchair and in full screaming argument
Ah, is the Victorian circus in town?
Outer limits of cooking for 2025 were reached somewhere in October for me so definitely dragging my heels into 2026 on this front. Is there a suitable diet entirely composed of toast toppings (no toast needed)?
Our cat has us trained well now, in her 3rd year of being rescued. We lay out the ghosts of mice hunted from this gone year along with a hope that next year the living brought in will outweigh the dead. Even if it means more swearing finding them under the sofa. #tinytalestuesday
Finally off to see this before it ends on 10/1 and to play our recurring bingogame of "find a normal shop" or "someone not wearing tie-dye" in the town centre...
Surely it's just Kevin defending his flat...
And two boiled eggs.... HONK
Good grief - your head will melt that close to the heater surely?
Well, the comment a bird handler gave me now years ago about the wind whistling through their head has taken on a new meaning.
My SIL has a dog like that, but goes through phases. And only some floors. There are anti slip mats all over the house.
@rhodri.biz please tell me #duvetknow is back in this year.... Honestly my fave account from the x-binfire and didn't think the hashtag had migrated
I wrote a thing, about what it means to not be writing... open.substack.com/pub/rootswan...
The 2nd century itches, like half-healed eczema. Not until the third do you start to see the bigger picture. A nudge here, a whisper there, an outright push. You revel in the pattern that unfolds, the shape of the puzzle laid out. Then a wrinkle - what if there's a piece missing?

Something red steady-glows by the gate, then moves off when you near. You follow, until you realise you're lost deep in the woods, and totally turned around.
'Need a hand?' a deep voice calls from behind you. 'You help me find my reindeer and I'll help with the necklace.'

Feels on brand for Kafka's city
It's absolutely gorgeous - reminds me of someone but I can't recall who now. Is it a large piece?
(Anything on the back, or at frame edge?)
Who is the artist?!
My favourite is the grit from my left eye the Sandman left on a May morning - grey &inconsequential.
It is the Dream that defines the rest, infuses my days with sparkle and the thing I strive for when the months turn hard. I lose it, briefly, aged 24, but set it in a ring, aged 30. Grounded, again.
The thing about stones is you will never find two the same. You try; searching sandy shores, mossy caves, and volcanic peaks, but there is always variation in texture, shape, gradation, and history. What are some of the jewels (literal or not) of your collection?

Writing from your sofa does nothing for your posture or hunching and overall downward spiral to develop a hunchback...
But.
Perhaps that's what they want...

The problem, it turns out, is that badgers eat the oversized pink bean harvest and grow, GROW.
Giant badgers tear through crops, their claws gouging marks through town square and herds alike. You realise they're the perfect animal for mining. Just need to tame them, so off to market you go..
Wes Streeting says "little or no support" for striking docs. Let's prove this cunt wrong. Repost if you wanna show solidarity with essential workers fighting for their rights after years of underfunding and real terms pay cuts. Who's with me?

No one said what happened to the crew member whose bunk I inherited. It's an upgrade, by a window, paint included.
Their dreams come to me in colours - mermaid-turquoise, beechleaf-green, octopus-purple. I paint on rice-paper, sold as memory scraps so they're remembered in this forever black.
Don't expect you to be whatsoever
