The FFG version is simultaneously an excellent game and a pale imitation of what I loved about Launch -> Diamond L5R (I was out after Diamond so don't have firsthand reasons on it)
...the FFG STORY relaunch was amazing though, top-notch relaunch (and also yuri)
AEG Legend of the Five Rings card: Hitomi Maya. She is a samurai in an off-the-shoulder gown, posed so the viewer can see the dragon tattoo on her back.
god, they just do not make card games like this anymore. Oh for a world where L5R and Netrunner split the top spot instead of the one we got.

I loved the opening to HHGTTG so much I worked it directly into the opening of Principles of Non-Euclidean Romance

Use them as sleeve backers for print-and-play versions of classic (some might say superior) card game Legend of the Five Rings: Four Winds Era.
Use 1: NPC and location quick-reference description cards for fantasy (and sometimes not) TTRPGs. They're very conveniently sized!
Use 2: Tokens for appropriate cards (Can't find a shrine token for Go-Shintai of Life's Origin? Use its art card or a similar ish one instead!)

Hey, alongside contacting your representatives, this seems like another thing worth putting a bit of your time into and sharing around. If we could get "reputational risk" taken off the table, even in this current climate, that could create a chilling effect on these kinds of policies

Mhm, and the times when superhero media does tackle the same question, it's the exception that proves the rule.
I don't think many people who seriously look at both/multiple genres try to actually equate them! The problem is that there's a fair amount of people who have an affinity with ONE of them (or neither) and do a surface equating and are then just VERY loud(ly wrong) about it out of hubris.
Precisely, they DO share a lot of things across a lot of different levels, but that's not the same as someone saying "they're basically the same as each other".

But I'm of the opinion that "they use some of the same tried-and-tested tools and aesthetics in order to approach related themes" does not equate to "they're basically just the same thing, if you understand one you understand the other, they're equivalent and basically the same genre".
Others focus on the fact that there are often similar character dynamics within the teams; both will frequently have the Ace Pilot, the Cocky Wingmate, the Stoic Supporter, the Withdrawn Cute Geek, the Cool Veteran, the Angry Upstart and so on. These things are not inaccurate!
There's plenty of other themes they both point at, I just have limited bweet space.
The thing is, a lot of people focus instead on aesthetics: transformation sequences being like power-up sequences. Calling move and attack names. Fancy callsigns. Color-coding. Cool uniforms and mech designs.
Sure! From my perspective, they are often in conversation with the same themes: having to grapple with Problems in different ways depending on which identity you're wearing, a combative form you put on, questions of "who am I, does my identity change based on form and capability", relation to power.
