According to Pliny the Elder, the point of the private clinic was for the patient to undergo dream healing locally without the temple. Clinic comes from the Greek word for lie down or recline. Ancient doctors would decide before treating a patient whether they were afflicted by an illness from a god

the original sarcophagus lid with the bas-relief. the drawing and the original are both at the British Museum. As we know, ancient wine was not very potent because of poor fermentation methods. The ancients added plants to their wine to increase potency and flavor.
