I really relate. My 17yo is very dependent too. Aside from unstacking the dishwasher, he doesn’t do much. It’s a big contrast to his older brother, who was fiercely independent from Year 7. He’s ADHD, so I try to remind myself his path’s just different… though I do worry how he’ll manage without me.

I took a 20% pay cut in 2020 to keep my job and haven’t had a raise since. I’m still doing fine, as long as I have work. But I want to see real change for those who aren’t. Raise wages for the lowest-paid. Raise the rate for those on income support.

Unfortunately many so called plant based alternatives aren’t great either. Unless they’re compostable, which many aren’t, they have the same end of life issues as fossil fuel plastics i.e. take hundreds of years to break down, microplastics etc.

And all our schools with HEPA filters sitting collecting dust.

I honestly don’t know why people feel the need to inflict their hate on others. You deserve safety & dignity. I hope you can draw some strength from the many words of love & support on this thread. I’ve learnt and continue to learn so much from you and find you an inspiration.

WFH makes me a far more productive employee. Instead of commuting, I’m at my desk working. Plus I don’t have to waste time on all that small talk b.s. haha.

What the American administration doesn’t seem to understand is that even if the tariffs are reversed, the trust is gone. Your old trade partners and allies have moved on - we’re striking new deals with each other, and we’re not coming back.
