"The Alberta Disadvantage"
“I don’t care if the prices rise—heck, I prefer them that way,” said Kaitlyn Leonardi, who crossed her arms in defiance as she lauded gasoline as “a great product” that had been “too cheap for too long.”
Good to see another news agency misconstruing careful (politically aware) elaboration as changes in position.
Playing dumb or plain dumb... sounds the same/ looks the same.
I'd like to see someone offering this as a service.
I've started, but I'm pretty embedded & busy. It's going to be another 1.5 years.
I'm sure people would pay for reliable, proven, & interactive DIY solutions, but I'd pay $1,500 or more for a specialist in this to take care of it this week.
Danielle Smith is now blaming immigrants for her own decision.
How can she point the finger at overcrowding and unsustainable population growth while she's still paying people to move here?

in 2023, Renfrew County had one of highest rates of overdose deaths Canada. Since then, opioid deaths have dropped by half, thanks to a community care model led by paramedics. Here's how it works. www.cbc.ca/listen/live-... via @cbcnews.ca @rebeccazandbergen.bsky.social
A touch of a twist required to for that narrative. 1. That was not the point of his speech, 2. Iran is attacking third parties within reach (not Israeli aggressors).
We support US actions to stop Iran from becoming nuclear armed & don't want anyone confused that we support that regime in any way.
He nvr said "we'll oppose their every action." The US is likely a major cause of the situation but it's long been Canada's position that Iran is a threat to global security & shouldn't be allowed to have nukes.
Nothing's changed. Some that expanded Davos to a grand illusion are now disillusioned.
My speculation is nonsensical but concluding our governement supports bombing a school & killing children makes sense to you?
Canada has recognized Iran as a threat to global security & that action is warranted. Not any & all actions. Not regardless of the outcomes.
Thank you for your insightful psychoanalysis. It could be that the statement is not referring to specific actions subsequent to the statement being made. Just speculating.
I'd like to hear him speak to this but my charitable speculation is that his statement reflects our long standing position on Iran and, perhaps, a belief in whatever intelligence has been shared (or at least seen).
It is a statement supporting principles that reflect Canada's long standing position. It also urges the parties to ensure no civilian casualties. Anyone that tries to turn this into our support for that outcome is likely hyper-partisan (and perhaps a little sick).
Clearly, that evidence does not reasonably lead to that conclusion.
Nowhere did he say that 'from this point forward Canada never support US military decisions.'
That would be a misread (and ridiculous).
It's as good a guess as any of course. We can't know what really transpired but you can be relatively certain they deliberately created some tension in the story.
While the news is sometimes informative, it is first and foremost entertainment. We're watching for the firey crashes and the conflict.
Many media have done the "both-sides" thing forever. It's an economical (maybe lazy, maybe cheap, maybe both) attempt to be balanced. They don't all do it to the same degree, but it's cerrainly not unique to CBC or any individuals therein.
To be fair. CBC did not chastise Eby that I could see. The reporter quoted someone relevant to the file near the end of the story. It was that person that made referenced comment. Jeez. If they quoted Hitler would they be Nazis? A bit fast and loose there Mr. Angus.
CBC didn't say it. One of the people they quoted near the end of the story said it.
It would be Washington playing the Jays as the expos, right? Would have to be in the world series.
I’m okay if it turns out that it’s rule not-justified. They did what they (and most of the country) thought was right. We got into the situation because of some shortcomings in policing and if there are other lessons we should take them. But I hope they take it to SCC and it gets turned around.
I think it might be time to start talking seriously about breaking the US up. There could be several decent mid-power countries introduced into the free world community. A few parts that would be akin to North Korea but if we can keep the nukes away from those ones the world will be a better place.
It's a necessary part of utilizing the pipeline. The dredging is not new. It happens for many reasons.
In the Fraser they dredge massively every year. Those giant car ships couldn't get up if they didn't. Maxing this pipe takes some pressure off the case for lifting the tanker ban.
...and looking at their team, there seems to be a lot of volunteer time being put into this effort.
The public info says the group that started this used their own money and investments/loans from family. A large chunk of their capital is coming through crowdfunding.
There are no tech billionaires involved and given the model, and the environment - they are unlikely to become multi-billionaires.
“2026 can be the year we build more shared infrastructure that makes municipal governance searchable, comparable, and trackable at national scale.”

While it’s impossible to know what someone else believes I note that Carney (& his team) appear to have had their eyes open all along & know more than we do. They have been holding discussions, but the US mixes in theatrics as a negotiating tactic. So now, it appears, we are doing some of the same.

Just removed it from the last device after it was confirned that the broligopoly co.s won't pay any tax in Canada on the money they make off my data. Still working on Google (this one is taking a while and requires a new European phone - Murena).
