Ohh wow thanks for this. I had heard of this but didn't look into it in detail.

Ok I swear I am going to use bluesky more I just need to start interacting with people here lol
They look very cute.
Also idk how confident we can be in those numbers
Like obviously it's better to offset then to not but bro it would be even better if you also didn't eat animals.
Ohh my god wtf. I support offsetting but you should not encourage bad behavior either. Like imagine if this was about human slaves or something. No one would accept this
Woah
Bro what? Those are not what people are talking about when they say lab grown meat. Those are plant based meats. Very different things. Lab grown meat is literally actual animal meat grown in a lab not plant material made to taste similar to meat.
How do you know it will be tasteless compared to actual meat?
Lol yeah. Obviously it needs to be competitive price wise. No one is disputing that
Ok. And? That's compatible with what I said and what she said
So the full solution is probably lab grown meat
Although of course you can persuade individual Americans to stop eating meat. I am one of those Americans. However on a population level it is difficult
She said a solution was to invest in lab grown meat since people don't want to change their habits
Ohh I see someone else has already recommended it. But yeah the idea is that maybe a revolution isn't the right word to describe what happened
Maybe this one for the scientific revolution?
Idk how someone can deny that chickens have qualia. Ugh this is pissing me off
Ohh my god what an insane moron
screenshotted text: Weβll need to build out renewables at breakneck speed and electrify everything we can, of course. But some of the most powerful levers we have to decouple economic growth from environmental impact challenge us to do something even harder β to begin outgrowing two central fixtures of American life that are as taken-for-granted as they are supremely inefficient: our extreme dependence on meat and cars. Changing those realities is so culturally and politically heretical in America that this case is almost never made in climate politics, but it deserves to be made nonetheless. And doing so will require examining the trade-offs that we too often treat as defaults.
pls read my ecomodernist manifestoβwe could make a massive dent in our planetary crises by reducing our dependence on the two great efficiency sinks in American life: meat and cars. And we can do so in a way that's consistent with growth and democratic principles

She addressed the convincing Americans thing in the article. Also Trump is term limited.
Yeah I think I agree with everything in the article. Dependance on cars is... Not ideal. And meat needs to be completely banned for many many reasons (unless it's lab grown).
This book is really good. Although it's probably not for people who want a basic overview given how incredibly detailed it is
Bruh I need to use this app more
Everything you actually need to understand about the Consumer Reports protein powder report (threading a gift link!) -- plant-based protein powders are fine, and do not, ffs, allow them to push you to get whey protein
Ok I need to get this book too lol
There were 149 subprojects in MKULTRA and we have internal descriptions of 146 of them apparently
Hmm we actually know a lot more about the CIA's illegal MKULTRA program than I realized. I had assumed most of it was just unknown and unknowable because the documents were destroyed but apparently historians can reconstruct what all the subprojects that compromised MKULTRA did.
I really want to get this when it comes out
Today I just learned that France and Britain nearly went to war over Syria in June 1945 only a month after the surrender of Nazi Germany. Their troops actually exchanged fire π
It's kinda crazy how often translators of ancient texts will not translate the word slave as slave but instead translate these words as "servant". You see this in Homer, New Testament, and Quran translations
