No, at least they're not doing that. Pretty sure I did the move out request when I knew I didn't need it anymore; they came and capped it after that. I remember speaking to different employees who had different stories and directives for me. Glad it's behind me.

I should look into it. I'm a little skeptical of having an aging gas line leading to my house.

I suspect they want to create a closed community, but that would mean a whole lot of blocking on their part, so I don't really know.

I was amazed to know that credit cards existed before the bread clip.

Maybe it's to ensure we haven't used gas (not even sure we'd be able to turn it on from outside), but I suspect it's so they can then use me as a data point if anyone wants to know how many Ottawans are still connected to natural gas.

I kept my meter mostly because they were going to charge me a sizeable amount to remove it and the pipe. I happened to notice a guy come on my property last summer to the side of the house. Sure enough, he was told he had to check my meter. I suspect I'm still technically a customer.

This is embarrassing, but this one got me a couple years ago. I tried to buy one kit through their web site, they increased it to four kits without my permission, and processed the sale before I had an opportunity to verify my order. Scam, scam, scam.
