just wrote a new poem for the first time in a little while. its working title is "it was literally my childhood" and it's pretty sarcastic. my most accessible work seems to be when i'm being a bit funny about the things that piss me off

I know there's a lot of fanservice slop still out there but I enjoy seeing how much these types of shows have evolved since I was a teenager watching a friend's older brother's pirate fansubs.
There seems to be a lot of focus not only on "look at this hot girl" but also "look at how this girl already has everything going for her and how you can land a baddie by being yourself and being sincere and like, acknowledging her humanity and spending time with her."
In Dan Da Dan and Dress-Up Darling, where the girl clearly likes the boy, there's not a lot of question as to /why/ she likes him - he's supportive and earnest if a bit socially oblivious. He's heroic when it counts.
I'll be starting the current season soon and am curious to see where things go. Maomao is an amazing protagonist, although I do slightly mourn the rumored original pitch where she was a middle-aged woman, married with kids.
Apothecary Diaries has won me over. There's a lot to discuss, particularly about its choice of setting, but the one thing I can't help but notice is that we're in a golden age of female anime characters that are extremely driven and compelling in their own right, and men that must rise to meet them.

Love it when I hear a new Caroline Polachek song and she's like "aaUUUUAAAOOOOOOOHHHAAAOOOO" and I'm like this slaps. It's going to annoy the hell out of my friends to put it on my summer jams playlist.
To be clear he selected a pronoun pin because he & mom sincerely believe in having them, i just explained to him one of them had the trans flag on it.
One of the best/funniest things about going to a Pride celebration with my folks is they've started getting really into pins.
My dad got a can badge with He/Him on it and the trans flag because I said that might be funny/confusing for folks. 6ft tall cis Boomer with a gray beard.
At a certain point, there's no sense in asking for forgiveness. You have to swallow the fact that you watched it happen and move forward from there.
Listen. The only way you can become a good writer is by being a shitty writer and doing it anyways. You canβt magically become a good writer by having a machine do some of the work for you. That just makes you a fraud.

I actually have a ton of gender feelings but once I separated my desire to present as Morticia Addams from my personal gender I got so much happier. It's kind of silly how socially gender resides in the eye of the beholder. Even presenting as kind of blandly masc wore on me for the decades I did it.
Got called "my Goth Queen" by a young vendor at the Burien Farmer's market and I'm gonna be riding that high for awhile.
the thing about trying to get this chapbook off the ground is like. i keep feeling like i should probably pick a struggle and focus on that narratively, only including work that concerns that. but also how do i pick just one struggle.
