Our turn! :(
Now out! rdcu.be/ePqaR With thanks to @britishacademy.bsky.social and @leverhulme.ac.uk for funding this work :)
We also take requests for additional features, but you might need to sweeten the deal by buying us a beer or two at the next international conference you see us at if you want them done quickly ;)
I've found it quite handy with undergrad student projects - means they can come up with their own Qs and try to put everything together pretty independently. Disclaimer: it's probably got some wonky bugs in it somewhere, but do tell me or @riadsala.bsky.social if you get stuck & we can try to help!
If you're a #visionscience or #psychscisky person starting to think about student dissertation projects, you might be interested in our visual search/foraging experiment code at github.com/scienceanna/.... You can configure everything via CSV files (lots of options!) and it all runs on Psychopy.
oh yeah, #psychscisky #visionscience #imgoodatsocialmediahonest
@riadsala.bsky.social and I have been spending a long time thinking about modelling visual foraging. v2 model glow up: 1) it can account for individual diffs in lots of summary stats 2) it can deal with 'outliers' really nicely and 3) it should be easier to use! osf.io/preprints/ps...
@riadsala.bsky.social :)
A little pre-print for your Monday morning #visionscience: www.researchsquare.com/article/rs-6.... This was a fun, if slightly wacky project... would love to hear any thoughts/critiques!! @riadsala.bsky.social
Thank you for coming (and bringing the good weather) - it was a great talk :) Really glad you enjoyed it!
Post SVG ice cream with @riadsala.bsky.social and @tsawallis.bsky.social! Lots of excellent science in the sun this weekend :) #visionscience
@riadsala.bsky.social and I have pondered how causal reasoning could be incorporated to the UG curriculum. Also, I feel like there can be a tension between giving students experience of designing/running research without implicitly training them that small n/low power doesn't matter.
Good news: we've extended the deadline for SVG 2025 to 28th Feb so even more people can join us! #VisionScience #PsychSciSky
I predominantly use Psychological Science these days - most of their recent papers have pretty good open datasets!
Scottish Vision Group 2025 website is now live: sites.google.com/view/svg2025/. It's one of my fave conferences - small, friendly, excellent scenery. Join us 4th-6th April 2025! #VisionScience #PsychSciSky @riadsala.bsky.social
A little paper about foraging with @riadsala.bsky.social. I enjoyed this RR process a lot - getting feedback at stage 1 is so helpful. Also, big shout out to all the FAB students involved in this project. royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/10.1098/... #VisionScience #AcademicSky
I can help with this... full launch of website etc. to follow shortly, but 4-6 April 2025 :)
Happy news for a Friday - the first RR I've been involved in is out: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti.... We did some pretty nerdy modelling trying to replicate (and extend?) Target Contrast Theory. Thanks to our infinitely patient reviewers and Editor over the last 2 years... #VisionScience
