The Myth of Drug Expiration Dates Hospitals and pharmacies are required to toss expired drugs, no matter how expensive or vital. Meanwhile the FDA has long known that many remain safe and potent for years longer.

One way to reduce drug spend is to have the FDA do an analysis of how long medicine retains it's potency. It can do it one drug at a time.

No one should throw away medicine they shouldn't have to. Whether pharmacy or patient.
