Film festival advert, showing three separate on-stage interviews.
From the archives: promotional material for Manchester's annual Festival of Fantastic Films, referencing guests from the 2017 event. That's myself in the middle, chatting to the charming Jenny Hanley about working on On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) and Scars of Dracula (1970). #horror #movies

Sadly, I didn't hear about this until the Birmingham gig was sold out, but maybe I could make the 20-mile trip to Leamington if it's as good as folks are saying.

Image of Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle, aka Batman and Catwoman.
Current reading: Batman: Hush, by Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee. A striking take on the Dark Knight, finally catalysing his mercurial relationship with Catwoman. #comics

Brooke Shields Doll by Ljn (Commercial, 1982)
YouTube video by The Museum of Classic Chicago Television (www.FuzzyMemories.TV)
This #ad is dated 1982, the year Brooke Shields turned 17. She'd played a child prostitute in Pretty Baby (1978) and used a nude double in The Blue Lagoon (1980). Anyone else think a lookalike doll of a real-life teenager, for you to dress/undress, is a little inappropriate? youtu.be/csxKt1ldc34?...

Photo of dancer and actress Lili St Cyr clipped from the October 1955 issue of Fury.
Lobby card for the 1955 film Son of Sinbad, featuring actress Lili St Cyr in a bath.
Perhaps best known now for her namecheck in the 1973 musical The Rocky Horror Show & 1975 film, Lili St Cyr (1917-99) was a popular stripper & #burlesque dancer known for elaborate sets & props. She later set up a lingerie business (Cassandra 'Elvira' Peterson wore one of her 'plunge' bras). #movies

Cover of the book No Sheep For You, containing ideas for knitting without using wool. There is a faux nude portrait of a woman knitting.
My advice would have been to hold on to your existing clothing before #knitting an entirely new wool-free wardrobe, unless you're planning to surprise the person delivering your copy of this book (if so, a word of warning: Amazon drivers always take a photo). @knitty.com

Back in March 2018, I had the pleasure of meeting up in Solihull with Michael Biehn and Jennifer Blanc to discuss her directorial debut The Girl and his work on both The Terminator and Aliens. They had to fly home just a few hours later, so this was astonishingly generous. #movies #journalism

Margaret Sheridan (1926-82) was working as a fashion model when Howard Hawks chose her to star opposite John Wayne in Red River (1948). Unfortunately, she had to decline due to pregnancy with her first daughter, so instead made her screen debut in the sf classic The Thing from Another World (1951).

Presenting a argument in opposition to your own is "sleazy"? Your unwillingness to even debate your own statement shows weakness and lack of integrity. The childish namecalling just makes you sound even more pathetic and unworthy of my time.

The landmark 100th edition of Yours Retro is scheduled to hit newsstands on 7 May, and I'm rather pleased to say I'll have two articles in there, one concerning a popular movie series of the 1930s/40s, the other an actress who appeared in the most famous horror film of 1960. #freelance #journalism
