Bednar starting off this session of #GeneralConference with a soapbox about "moral agency" instead of "free agency". This is the hallmark of his leadership, reducing free will and ensuring compliance with church-dictated morality.
And Sunday Morning session rounds out with a few sacrament meeting talks at #GeneralConference. Nothing terribly notable and nothing follows the Saturday Evening session because that was a real banger. Let's see what this afternoon holds for us with Oaks remaining as the last headliner.

Wow, okay. Saturday Evening Session of #GeneralConference started slow, had one quite pleasant talk, then switched to a brainwashing, thought-criming train wreck from that point forward.

The talk discusses the vast surveillance system to keep track of those who "wander off into the mists," success stories of leaders who successfully reactivated members, etc. In broad daylight, the exact cult indoctrination tools used for high retention. Their answer: Orwell had some good ideas.
Now William K. Jackson of Q70 is here to sell us the idea of the @churchofjesuschrist.social's "tools" with his #GeneralConference talk about "counting and accounting" as good "undershepherds" of the flock. He grandly gestures to himself when obliquely referencing church authority multiple times.
And then Steven C. Barlow's #GeneralConference talk is a whip-cracker about keeping every missionary in line and shaming any behavior that deviates from the guidelines. No good talk can stand alone like J. Anette Dennis's. Compassionate talks always have an insidious following act.

Aight, J. Anette Dennis of RS Pres gave an excellent talk just now. It made room for people who are struggling and didn't vilify any person or group. She shared her own faith crisis story and it felt genuine as any other #GenCon talk. Could do without the inspiration p*rn, but it made her point.
Patrick Kearon is opening speaker for tonight. "Jesus" was the first word out of his mouth and everything that's followed is purely a sacrament meeting talk. I was really hoping he would be the Uchtdorf of the current generation of young members. Nothing indicates this to be the case. #GenCon

Dieter Uchtdort ends this morning's #GenCon with a pleasant talk about discipleship. He has an impressive ability to make us feel both special (gifted) and inadequate at the same time. The upshot: Be a better Mormon and don't jump ship.

So far, every single #GeneralConference talk has quoted the dearly departed supreme leader. It will be interesting to see if Oaks is just as vain as his predecessor; I suspect the culture has irreparably shifted under Nelson's tutelage toward kissing the ring.
Tracy Browning's entire #GenCon thesis is: teach children to chant about Jesus and they never unlearn it and are often traumatized for decades afterward. The brainwashing MUST start at an early age through "sacred music" which forms the foundation of the children's theology.
