I'm working up the final art for the case files in collector, and you can really tell from the start of the project to now that I didn't know how to draw men.
Jessie in the OG file looks like he's about 9 😅
Because as strongly as she knows she’s a frog , she also knows this: that whatever is inside the Evermore will eventually, inevitably, come out. Will come for her.
And she can’t go back.
It crawls inside her, though. When she can’t sleep at night she hears the voices whisper that someday, somehow, she has to go back inside and find out what’s in there. She doesn’t want to, and maybe she’ll wait another century before she does. But she can’t wait forever.
She knows there is something very bad in the Evermore. She isn’t exactly sure what. But she knows it’s very very bad. That’s why Miss Fawn and Mister Wraith are so serious about their work.
But that’s ADULT things, and Rana isn’t an Adult. She's a FROG!
But the two monsters she knows the best is Miss Fawn and Mister Wraith. They watch over the Evermore, and make sure nothing gets in, and nothing gets out.
But SHE got out.
Those are her words for them…for now. She might make up a new name for them tomorrow, or in a hundred years,or yesterday. She spends her days with her frog friends, playing out stories or hiding in the tall grasses. Sometimes monsters come from the Somewhere Else and she has to be a very good hider.
Frog. Rana is a frog. She might not look like one, but she’s SURE. She looks like a child, too; but she’s not that either. After all, she’s been a child for a very long time.
Since she can remember, Rana has lived in the In-Between: the Misted Lands bridging the Evermore to the Somewhere Else.
