Hell, they could spend a fraction of a fraction of their budget on a small army of humans to review reports, both manually- and programmatically- detected, to entirely avoid false positives. I get human responses from smaller companies with much smaller profit margins who take action within the day.
FWIW I am confident they could use non-LLM machine learning to also do a good job of detecting this stuff with low false positives but the hypocrisy of selective AI usage is particularly infuriating.
I flagged a Google Form that is hosting a phishing link that is impersonating Google Oauth via a direct channel to Google over a week ago and it is still up. They are willing to shove Gemini into every other aspect of our lives but they aren’t able to use it to protect their own users and brand?
AI has enabled phishers to be able to pivot and iterate rapidly in terms of website and email design in order to evade detection. In theory it should be enabling the hosts to re-tune their moderation just as quickly and that does not seem to be happening.
I’m benchmarking how quickly major platforms respond to reports of blatant phishing/malware that they’re hosting. So far they’re all failing miserably.
