in case you've never seen it, this is Roger Ebert on The Mummy
Having slept on it I think the biggest issue I had with the film is that theres a very clear moment when the 2nd act ends where it really shouldn't have. It feels as though it skips ahead 30-40 minutes and misses a whole lot of the setup it would have needed to make the ending click for me.
That said, this scene is wonderful, and even better in context.
I'm sure I'll be dwelling on the symbolism for ages to come, but it kinda just made me want to rewatch the anime. I think theres a lot I enjoyed here but the pacing feels off and despite being a reboot(ish?) movie, it feels WAY too dependant on the show AND wants you to parse thru what it changed
Finally got around to watching the Utena movie and I am simulateously more confused, less confused, enthused, slightly disappointed somehow, and I think I aught to just go to bed

One thing I appreciate about old internet humor is how blunt it was. Look at this image. Adding ANYTHING ruins the joke. It's perfect. Why? Because some guy on a message board went "I really want to dunk on this game, what's the least work I can do to get my point across." Pure Distilled Comedy.
I cannot emphasize enough that these people are being laid off for failing to do things that are literally impossible
