it was only 1min of footage and she was thankful to have it back. she shared some strong feelings about artists who work with found footage which was interesting to hear that perspective
couple years ago when i was inspecting some of the footage i had, an artists name was written on the leader who i randomly knew through cfmdc. when i emailed her, she had no idea where or how those pieces of footage got to someone else, then to me.
What are ppls thoughts on using found footage especially when you canβt source the artist?

I used a developer temp of 84F (ish) at 2 mins. Or, let the developer cool down and increase your time. I did both and they worked well.
If youβve tried other similar but different recipes lmk!
I use the recipe taught to me by filmmaker Terra Long:
π± 4 fistfuls of plants, pulverized (I used a blender this time and worked well)
π¦ 4L water (2L hot to dissolve, let stew for 30 mins, then 2L warm)
π§Ό 360g washing soda (stir well)
βͺοΈ 80g vitamin c (Add last, should fizz)
I've been working on this project examining the physical and imagined erosion occurring at Hanlanβs Point Beach on the Toronto Islands. This new film dev recipe is an ode to the plants whose roots provide stability to the sand dunes, a natural coastal protection to keep tides low.
rose acacia πΏ shot on kodak 3378 and developed in plant developer (including rose acacia, dogwood, green ash, soapwort, goldenrod) using the plants surrounding the sand dunes on toronto island.
Little holiday gift to myself π excited to dive into this over the next couple weeks.

Happy 1 year anniversary to this silly little idea of hole punching my 16mm film negatives π what ensued was probably the most challenging (technically, physically & emotionally) artwork I've made.
But, got some funny TikTok comments.
