Just 14 months after I wrote it, my last remaining SOTLive story has finally appeared… While that was still pending, it was like a little bit of me was still there 😭 Thank you @globaljukeboxer.bsky.social for sharing those brilliant pics with me.

Just written a story for The Knot that ticks my favourite box: ‘interesting Staffordshire things that most people don’t already know about’!
Make sure you’re subscribed to The Knot at www.theknot.news for this and more positive news from Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire! 🥨

Amazon might deliver 'convenience', but it can’t replicate the magic of stepping into a quiet bookstore on a rainy day, where the scent of old pages mingles with fresh coffee and every shelf holds the promise of a new adventure waiting to be discovered.

Thank you, Mike! 💛🤍🖤
Don’t miss The Longest Yarn - an 80-metre-long woollen recreation of the D-Day landings made by knitters around the world - at Stoke Minster until Dec 5th. Incredibly detailed and surprisingly moving. I was quite choked up by the final panel daily-focus.co.uk/2024/11/mode... 🙏
BREAKING NEWS: The Environment Agency has today issued a closure notice to controversial landfill Walleys Quarry – starting the process of permanently closing the Newcastle-under-Lyme site. daily-focus.co.uk/2024/11/brea...
There’s so many glorious redundant structures in Stoke on Trent, right across the 6 towns. I just hope repurposing them to enhance their heritage is commercially feasible. Such beauty deserves care.
Genuinely shocked at the plans to close the Museum of Cannock Chase and the Prince of Wales Theatre in Cannock, where I lived from 2006-2021.
A petition has been launched to try to save them: www.change.org/p/save-the-p... 🎭
It’s a lovely-looking building with an interesting history. Could definitely see it used in that way. You’d better buy a ticket!
You can have a look inside here. I wonder what will become of it? www.stokesentinel.co.uk/news/stoke-o... 👀
Back in January 2023 agents were saying the former Minton Library could be turned into a bar or restaurant. It closed as a library in December 2008 and is currently empty after being used as a meditation centre and offices. www.stokesentinel.co.uk/news/stoke-o... 🧵
👀 Grade II-listed Minton Library in Stoke to be auctioned on December 10th. Guide price £150K. Was previously for sale for £295K. My story and pics from January 2023 in 🧵 www.sdlauctions.co.uk/property/454... 👀
Bit gutted not to be at Vale Park under the lights tonight - especially after that early Shorrock goal! - but we’re listening to @philjbowers.bsky.social and Adam Yates in Radio Stoke instead! @officialpvfc.bsky.social #PVFC
PRIDE AND PREJUDICE
HARD ❌
It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.
EASY ✅
Everybody knows that single rich dudes wanna get hitched.
Buying a book and actually reading it are two very different hobbies.
@keithbrymerjones.bsky.social writing in his Boy in a China Shop book: ‘I’m hopeful for the future of Stoke-on-Trent. There is too much history for the industry simply to disappear. Potters continue to base themselves there, and there is a steady stream of new talent emerging.’
A cover of Herr Dumpidump by Roger Hargreaves that says "Herr Dumpidump by Roger Hargreaves" and with an illustration of Herr Dumpidump looking especially dumpidumpish (forgive me but I can't stop repeating the word dumpidump... DUMPIDUMP!)
My six favourite European Mr Men character names...

2. Mr Greedy in Sweden = Gubben Glufs Glufs

Had a lovely day at Chatsworth House getting in the festive spirit. Even found a selection of Emma Bridgewaters - you can take the girl out of Stoke, and all that🎄
Hello Rob! Hope life post-Keele is treating you well.
Thanks Mark! 🙌
A small cute brown and black dog is standing on his hind legs with his front paws on a chair, and looking into the camera.
Thanks to everyone who has already followed me on here! I don’t know yet whether I’ll end up using it or not, but in the meantime here’s a pic of my dog Bill who is very cute but very unlucky, and is going to have to have a third operation on his leg next month 😢
