I've seen discourse surrounding artists "peaking" at 30 and I just want to say don't fall for that trap!
I'll be 45 this year and I don't think I've ever been more resolute about my work.
Existence and perseverance is art; you can not PEAK yourself. Every iota of creation you make is a miracle.βοΈ
They won't start with banning birth control. First they'll lie about it. Then dictate who can prescribe it, use it, fund it, in what forms, and for how long. Suddenly, your doctor won't call you back. I know this is what they'll do because it's what they're doing to transgender healthcare right now.

Yes! Kim Jung Gi always comes to mind when one thinks of drawing amazing stuff with ink. I haven't seen many videos about his work, but I know what you mean. At first sight, it seems that his memory and understanding of forms was incredible =o
I still want to hide the areas I'm afraid to draw π
The thing with sketches is that it can be a "shapeless" doodle or it can be something that looks finished depending on how each artist considers them =)
Never feel less because you have to make a pencil pass, it's the logical step! We all do it! (Unless you have dozens of years of experience π₯°)
I consider these sketches because I I use them as practice for things I want to learn. Like textures of rocks, figuring out water, etc. The parts I focus a lot too are facial features, because I adore some mangaka's way of drawing them =D I'm studying for example: Mori Moyori's lines =)
On steps like the rocks textures, the hair, and for example the scales and the pattern there. Those are the things I'm allowing myself to play with.
For inks: I start a quick pass with a 0.03 pen for the outlines (very light), then G nib, then Spoon and last for Maru nib for hair lines and shadows!
Ohh nooooooooo!!!!! I do the same! I didn't realize that I didn't explain it! The only thing I do is that I do a very quick pass with 6H then 4H for general shapes, I do a quick run with my lead pencil (.03) for parts I know I'll get wrong like the face or arm/hands. Then I ink! I improvise a lot ->
Ink drawing of a river mermaid leaning on rocks. There's a calm stream of water coming down from the rocks. She's interacting with a Scissor tailed flycatcher that's resting on her shoulder.
A river mermaid for a collector at Patreon π₯°
I opened a tier to offer these. I call them "ink sketches" because I don't plan them 100% and I'm not freaking out if I make mistakes. I just let them be practice for ideas, problem solving and getting familiar with my nib pens!

Thank you Janice! Jan has been super amazing to work with, I'm so happy that she considered me to share my art with her audience π₯°
Oil painting of a white horse with brown hair lifting his 2 front legs. Has wings simulating the impression of a galaxy, monarch butterflies flying around. Yellow and green-ish clouds beind and a blue cloudy background with the curve of the moon showing with some stars around.
This is the week where I can shamelessly share horse art! This is an all time favorite, finished in 2017.
"Eternity". Oil on canvas. 30" x 40".
This was a very defining painting for me and a very personal image. Cathartic at the time when I needed it. Now, I'm just proud and happy I painted it.
Jan, from @artdog.bsky.social is so wonderful! She was so kind to choose my art for a Year of the Horse feature, I'm really thankful π₯°
And if you like sci-fi and dogs, you might also want to check out her books!

A painting of 3 wild horses. A young horse looks forward to a very protective, dominant Pinto stallion that's protecting a mare. They're in fields inspired in Wyoming. There are lots of purple/pinkish lupine flowers, rocks, and a rattlesnake hidden there below flowers similar to fire twisters.
Impossible for me not to share a horse today β€οΈπ Happy New Year to those of you who celebrate!
My piece today is "The lovers" from the "Unbridled Spirit Tarot".
When thinking of horses, most think of freedom and power. I think of cautious creatures that thrive and find power in community ππππππππ

Illustration for "Justice". Portrays a female representing figure sitting on a stone stair. On a step, there's a sword and a scale engraved on each side. medieval red dress, simple, with a few yellow details. The bottom of the dress is dirty. She has no shoes. One foot stands forward. She has her eyes covered. Behind her, a white mare stands. Behind them, a red battered banner, a stone gate and in the very far background the sky in yellow and blue colors. The female representing figure's right hand (on our left) is posed over the mare's shoulder.

One of the 79 illustrations that I created for the Unbridled Spirit Tarot. @tinatackanderson.bsky.social asked me to portray Rhiannon, doing penance for a crime she didn't commit until truth surfaced.

A figure floating in a grey void. She holds an orb that is attracting all of the light and colours around it.
'Beyond the Quiet' has made it into Infected by Art vol.14!
Gracias!! That makes me feel so happy! I'm gathering all my courage to do more stuff like this and perhaps 2 page stories as I'm getting used to the formats π₯²
And thank you so much, I really hope so too!
Photo of the stages of my 4-Koma. First sketch on the left, 2nd is a translucent sketch, third is final sketch, last one is after finishing inking.
And, to illustrate the steps I followed: Not pictured is a tiny thumbnail in a random sketchbook. Then a rough sketch, then I repeated and fixed some areas of the sketch using tracing paper. Printed a copy and using a lightbox, traced to make the final sketch. Then final inking.
Finished on CPS EXπ₯°
Forgot to mention! I used ink for the line art, working with nib pens (which are easier on my thumb)
The screentones and lettering was a fun struggle since it was my first time using Clip Paint Studio EX.
Will I do this again? F-ck yeah! I learned a lot and made 4 illustrations in just 1 project π₯°
