For portfolio, do illustrations with a purpose. You want to do tcg art? Research card art of that specific game, the thematic of the set, the style of art they use, the ability of that card and how it relates to that drawing. ADs care about that not the backstory/story of your character.

2020 was when I decided art was not going to just be a hobby, and went deep into studying. This decision breathed motivation and energy back into me after a long time of floating through life.
