Loek Zoon

In 2019 verscheen de bundel Broek en Waterland. Regionale samenwerking en conflicten, 1282-1811 (Uitgeverij Verloren). Ik was verantwoordelijk voor de eindredactie en schreef ook de inleiding. Een aantal gerenommeerde historici werkte mee aan dit boek dat positieve recensies kreeg, oa in TvG 2020-2.

In 2017 kwam het boek Vrouwen en vroomheid. De boetvaardige zusters vh Sint-Ursulaklooster in Purmerend (1392-1572) uit, olv Vincent Nijenhuis en Koen Goudriaan (Uitg. Verloren). Ik heb namens het WA met collega's verscheidene charters getranscribeerd en zelf ook een aantal hoofdstukken geredigeerd.

Deze beginperiode heeft mij gevormd in de historicus die ik nu ben:
- passie voor de vroegmoderne geschiedenis
- nadruk op archiefonderzoek (Van Nierop)
- een korte, helder schrijfstijl (Tracy)

Ik schreef een artikel op basis van mijn scriptie, dat in 2006 verscheen in Tijdschrift Holland @tijdschriftholl.bsky.social: tijdschriftholland.nl/wp-content/u...

Voor mijn scriptieonderzoek waren werken van J.D. Tracy een belangrijk startpunt, met name: Holland under Habsburg Rule, 1506-1566 en A Financial Revolution in the Habsburg Netherlands: Renten and Renteniers in the County of Holland, 1515–1565. Tracy en Van Nierop hebben mijn scriptie beoordeeld.

Mijn scriptiebegeleider was prof. Henk van Nierop, een topexpert van wie ik veel heb geleerd en die de nadruk legde op het belang van het doen van archiefonderzoek.

Maar eerst even terug in de tijd;) Ik studeerde in 2004 af aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam, in de richting Nieuwe en Nieuwste geschiedenis, daarbinnen in de vroegmoderne tijd. Mijn scriptie ging over de fiscale belangenbehartiging van kleine steden in Holland in de periode 1540-1560.

Op dit wisselaccount - een mooi initiatief van @annepetterson.bsky.social - wil ik jullie een inkijkje geven in mijn historisch onderzoek en in de manieren waarop ik een gevarieerd publiek probeer te interesseren voor dit onderzoek.
