I’m not gonna hold this against Horii, but I will say I’m a writer because of Dragon Quest’s brilliant attention to its translations and localizations. They were primo as far back as the first game and they inspired me. Absolutely love how the modern translations weave in old NES “Alefgard” dialect.

The Mario Galaxy movie looks like fun for Nintendo losers like myself who can name every single one of the sixty thousand characters they apparently have in this thing. R-I-fucking-P to the normie parents who have to try and hash this mess out, though. Can't wait for the 0 star "WTF??" reviews lol

Candlewick - Sugoi_Argonian_Maid - Rockman | Mega Man - All Media Types [Archive of Our Own] An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works

Great story -- really enjoyed it. The subversion is interesting, and it's framed in a way that makes a lot of sense. Thanks for writing it! (the pic is awesome too btw)

Sometimes I just watch the Head Over Heels segment itself, it's so good.

The last tendrils of my reproductive hormones are fucking up my brain, so once in a while I'll be minding my own business watching YouTube and a vision of naked, bloody men fighting each other to the death will pop into my head and then vanish like a Five Nights at Freddy's jumpscare.

A red tailed hawk in a tree looking for ladies

I’m walking and I see the neighbourhood hawk is cruising for chicks and I’m like “damn, look at that hawk, I’m so lucky to see that hawk, it’s crazy I get to see animals and meet people and bear witness as another spring slowly but steadily beats the shit out of winter.”

I’m sure Madame Jewish Space Lasers is acting in good faith when she uses metaphors about eating children/having an appetite for blood against a politician who, while indeed a massive PoS, is notably Jewish.

My grandfather was a member of the biggest orthodox synegogue in North America and it was still smaller than the smallest megachurch.

My father’s synegogue fees also pay for plots in Jewish cemeteries for himself and my mother.

I’ve learned that some people get very defensive if you so much as suggest that not voting for Kamala really wasn’t the way to go.

You probably aleady know the first run of Sailor Moon was very popular up here, to the point the Toronto Star’s TV listings magazine did an issue about it. My mom bursts into my room after it’s published and tells “What do you mean she has a kid at 16???”

As if my mother can throw stones. 💅

When your money goes into a system that, despite its flaws, has saved the life of you or someone you love at *least* once, it becomes much harder to ignore how a healthy society involves depending on each other to hold the ball.

I have a theory that the US’s lack of universal health care is a big reason for its spiritual erosion. “If a waitress can’t afford to treat her appendicitis, is she really a worthy member of society?” It’s a sick way of thinking.

He thought I’d contracted TB from smoking, not from germs.

And either way, he’d be happy to see me die if it meant his money wasn’t spent on making me better. I grew up in Mike fucking Harris’s Ontario and I’d never heard anything so callous. Not to mention nonsensical.

The answer is “always!”

“When did the internet go crazy?” Could be around 2003 when I chatted with my first American who told me I didn’t “deserve” health care. I’d contracted latent TB (long story) and said the gov’t was paying for my treatment.

Him: “I’m glad my tax dollars wouldn’t pay to fix your smoking habit.”

The MonHun universe just works so, so well for a traditional RPG setting because it’s already a lived-in world with culture, history, and ecosystems that are ripe for exploration and mystery.

The game is also just damn funny sometimes. Wherever Rudy goes, he inexplicably has a barrel to stand on:

The comments: "You're right, this is a third world hellhole thanks to TruDOPE throwing open the borders to everyone!"

I'm old enough to remember when people blamed Trudeau's old man for their failings. Same reason, too.

I remember when we used to have actual content to read on the internet that wasn't just articles about how "I Ditched My Comfortable Life in my Home Country to Move to Canada on a Whim Without any Job Prospects Lined Up, Now I'm Miserable and it's Canada's Fault, Please Get Mad in the Comments."
