National Parks, travel, survival skills, camping, and a little bit of tech (ok, a lot of tech). ๐๏ธ๐ธ๐ฒ๐ฎ #ParkChat co-host. We make pretty cool nature and travel videos. https://youtube.com/@naturetechfamily

Good to have you here! โค๏ธ #parkchat
A11 Get the kids to take photos, and then do self-critique when they get home. Discuss the pictures with them, ask them which ones are the best, and why, and then frame the ones they pick. #ParkChat
#parkchat Bravo. Really enjoyed the questions. BTW: hereโs one of my favorite pieces of art in a park. Itโs by Paco Young.
Q12 #ParkChat Letโs hear those announcements and questions here please.
A12 #ParkChat Next we are going to chat about an article we saw that delineated a significant list of negatives about the Parks. Iโll past it again as homework by Sunday. Weโd like some volunteers to help us with some of the Qs-five or six of you perhaps. At the least I expect this to be interesting
I found some in my Google Photos! ๐ #parkchat
Anything that shows the diversity of this amazing planet of ours. #FindYourPark #ParkChat
Letโs show our gratitude for @spaceart.bsky.social for his superb rendering of #ParkChat and for all he does for the Parks. Bravo!Itโs great to have you as a part of the family. Thanks so much! @naturetechfam.bsky.social
#parkchat A11 As Susan mentioned, those junior ranger books usually have a drawing section. That's a start! Get kids to take photos and frame their photos back at home. They'll want to do it again in the "next" park!
Q11 #ParkChat As parents we want our children to enjoy their trips to the Parks for many reasons. Engagement then on Park trips is going to be important. What techniques are you going to use for engagement when Park art is on our minds for the kids?
Watercolor painting of a white bird with black legs, standing in a blue stream.
A6: My mom is the artist in our family. She's created many beautiful paintings from her trips to the national parks. #ParkChat
A10 I would show before-and-after pictures of Beaver Marsh at Cuyahoga Valley - from a car graveyard to a thriving wetland - to show the restorative power of nature with an assist from human preservation efforts. #ParkChat
I try to get a piece of art in each park I go to. Itโs my house decor. #FindYourPark #ParkChat

How about some great architecture at Little Rock Central High School? Such an inspirational place. #ParkChat
Exactly! ๐ #parkchat
When I taught Graphic Design to HS kids we did a Photoshop unit on how to make these posters. It was a hit with me and the kids! #parkchat
The WPA art of the 30s and 40s have always been an obsession of mine. I love the modern interpretations of them, too. #FindYourPark #ParkChat
I would LOVE to be Artist in Residence there. I thought I heard they werenโt doing that program anymore. Iโll have to check it out and see. #parkchat
The Grand Canyon and Yosemite feel like Albert Bierstadt paintings. #FindYourPark #ParkChat

A8 #ParkChat That's a tough one. I'm torn between my "local" C&O Canal, the Badlands and Voyageurs.
I'll go with the C&O Canal, and photography, only because that's the visual art I'm most comfortable with.
Two white coffee mugs with black designs - one of a turtle and one of an antelope-like animal.
A5: We have a couple of similar cups, from our visit to Gila Cliff Dwellings NM. Every cup of tea takes me back there! #ParkChat
Ansel Adams black and white photo of curving river in front of snow capped mountains with clouds in distance.
Q10: Ansel Adamsโ Tetons Snake River photo was put on the golden Voyager spacecraft record because it showed that we live on a planet where water is a vapor (cloud), liquid (river) & solid (snow). What park photo would you send to aliens to show our world? #parkchat
#parkchat A9 I played a Native American flute for a friend's wedding at Starved Rock State Park many yrs ago and apparently it echoed through the canyons. Afterward people sought out our group to tell us how appropriate the music felt for their park experience there. It was amazing.
Multiple people dressed in skirts and palm fronds dance the hula in front of lush green trees at Hawaiโi Volcanoes National Park.
Q9: Thereโs art in the parks other than pictures. Are there performing arts in the park that youโve experienced that evoke a sense of place for you? #parkchat
I have pictures of steam in a park! #ParkChat
Photography is art, too! Take pictures! ๐ #parkchat

Iโll be beading in Yellowstone this summer. Come by and say hello, please!
#parkchat A8 I'm pretty envious of @yellowstonenpgeek.bsky.social getting to do art at Yellowstone this summer. So, Yellowstone for me. I think I would draw/paint or focus on more wildlife photography!
